Q: If you choose a monogram wedding cake topper, what initials should you use?
A: It should be the first letter of your new last name. Here’s a pretty one: http://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Monogram-Wedding-Toppers-Initial/dp/B002OXH8T2
Q: Monogram Wedding Cake Toppers Dallas?
I’m getting married on Friday in Dallas. Does anyone know where I can buy a monogram cake topper? Thanks!
A: Michael’s or ACMoore or another local craft store may have them, some stock all the letters. Or, talk to your baker.
Good luck!
Q: Size of a wedding cake topper?
The top tier of our 3-tiered wedding cake is 6 inches in diameter. We would like a single-letter monogram as our cake topper. What size should we get so that it doesn’t look too big or too small on the top of the cake?
A: About 5″ tall is considered right for a 6″ top tier. Go a lot taller than that and you could have a top-heavy look, is the thinking, but a topper that’s only 4″ tall can be dwarfed by a 6″ wide tier. Most cake topper designers do plan for standard top tier sizes such as 4″ and 6″ diameters, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding the right size.
Q: Monogrammed Wedding Cake Toppers??
I am looking for cheap/inexpensive monogrammed cake toppers, and I am having a hard time finding some at a reasonable price. I would like to have our last initial larger, and in the middle of our first name initials. They don’t even need to have the jewels on them since it’s pretty simple to do by myself. Does anyone know of a website or a store where I can find these??
A: Here is a site that seems VERY reasonably priced. I hope they have what you need. Best wishes on your upcoming wedding!

Q: Should we use this cake topper since it came from his family?
We’ve already ordered a black and white wedding cake with very elaborate scrollwork, this is what it’ll look like:
http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings/29115/view.aspx?id=29115&type=1
Because it has such a fancy design, we figured not to do a cake topper or any flowers at all and just leave it as is.
Last night, his family presented us with a monogram cake topper and engraved champagne flutes, which is extra nice of them since it was out of the blue and they haven’t participated much thus far. The cake topper is very nice, but I really didn’t want one at all! This is it, with our initials of course:

Should we use it? Should we not use it and if they ask afterwards just say the caterer forgot to put it on? I feel like a cake topper would ruin the look of our cake. Any advice?
PS I want to tread lightly here and not hurt any feelings since these will be my in-laws in a month.
A: You should not lie and say the caterer forgot about it. That’s just shady, and I’m pretty sure lying to the your In-Laws on the day of your wedding is some kind of bad luck curse.
Since they haven’t participated much thus far they probably had no idea what kind of cake you had in mind. In my opinion, it was a little presumptive to give you a topper without asking your input. I do agree with you that I don’t think it will look right on your cake.
I would be a little honest, and say that you love it but aren’t really sure if it will go with the cake (and show them a picture of the cake), but will definitely be able to find another use for it. Ask their input about putting it on the cake table or next to the guest book or even at the head table. If you find a way to use it, they really shouldn’t be offended.
Q: Do acrylic mirror monogram cake toppers reflect in pictures?
I want to get mongram cake toppers for our wedding cake. It seems cheaper to go with the acrylic mirror ones than with brushed silver. 2 things-
1. I’d like to put rhinestones on them myself. Is is going to look weird with the rhinestones on the the mirrored ones?
2. Has anyone use the mirrored ones before? It seems like you might see the photographer or people reflected in pictures of the cake…?
Thanks!
A: No not if your photographer takes the picture right and doesn’t aim the flash right into the mirror part of it. We had these exact toppers for our cake and our pictures turned out great. We did a big W for our last name and then a smaller T & S for the first letter of our first names, it was beautiful.
We didn’t have a problem with any of our pictures showing the flash or other people in the background.
Here is what ours looked like, you can actually chose your color of rhinestones and font. I think it’s not that much more to get the rhinestones then to do it yourself.

Q: Cheap initial/monogram cake toppers?
I want a simple monogram with 3 letters for my wedding cake. However, it seems that they are pretty pricey; i don’t want to spend too much on them. Does anyone know any vendors OR alternative sites (not from those selling cake tops but party favors, etc) who offer cheap monogram/letters cake toppers? Thanks.
A: sometimes they are easy to come by and cheap if you check with people who have simular initals or even if you can have them done through a cheap I’ve seen them through oriental trading company. You could check there.
Q: Needing some wedding cake advice?
Ok I picked a square 3 tier wedding cake. The decorator is going to a 10-8-6 cake and is going to do the top and bottom square with the crisscross with dragees and the middle with just dragees, there will be ribbons around the bottom of each tier as well, will this look ok? Also I’m trying to decide what kind of cake topper to do, monogram, flowers, or what? Our wedding colors are black, fuchsia, and ivory so any cake advice and ideas would help out so much. I can email the pics I’ve came up with so far if any of you are interested in seeing and giving me your advice..Thanks!
this isn’t the exact wedding cake but it is an good example of the crisscross and dragees. my ribbon will be black and if i do flowers as a topper they will be the fuchsia??
http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=48225
A: It sounds gorgeous. Would love to see a pic though. From what you descibed, I would use flowers on the top. Too much bling can be too much. I would say leave the ribbons off the crisscross layers. But then again, it’s hard to envision what it would actually look like. Love those colors – Congrats!
Q: stupid to use only the first letter of two last names?
never been to a wedding so i don’t know how they do it. what if groom has TWO last names that the bride is changing to? Like – Smith – Carney or Ellison – Smith. Seen cake toppers with just one letter. Does it look dumb to just use the first letter of the his last name as monogram, cake topper, invites, aisle runner etc. So for example just the “S” from Smith – Carney or the “E” from Ellison Smith? Know it seem like something insufficient to some, but just want to know what’s usually done. thanks.
A: It would look silly to only use one of his surname initial since his surname is Name-Name, not just Name. At the reception, if the bride has decided to change her name, then her initial shouldn’t be on the cake since she is no longer Jane Maiden, but is now Jane Name-Name.
Q: Any elegant cake toppers other than mongrammed?
I would love to find something to go with my January Old Hollywood feel wedding that is elegant and sparkly, but no monograms. I’ve waded through at least 30 sites so far and either they only have the cheesy bride and groom, or the price is well over a hundred dollars. Any suggestions?
A: Hmmm… part of me thinks this is cheesy, and part of me thinks it looks very “Hollywood:” http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12013399
I think this is cool, but you might need to find someone to create it for you: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11779592
Maybe you could use these somehow–they seem very Grace Kelly to me: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11776261
Or… you could get one of these vintage Rolls Royce toy cars (like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/1-43-hand-built-Rolls-Royce-1925-Phantom-I-Jonckheere_W0QQitemZ250252584870QQihZ015QQcategoryZ223QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and put a little “just married” sign on the back.
The more I think about it, the more I like my last idea (which someone else has inevitably posted since I started my search… that always happens!)
Best of luck!
Q: Wedding monongram, ZSS?
instead of a cake topper With people i want a monogram to use on the invites and the cake but it would be ZSS! and ive looked at alternating sizes and its just funky. any advice??
A: are you sure it is ZSS? The first initial should be the brides, the middle initial is the groom’s last name – the name the bride is taking, and the last initial is the groom’s first name. So you have it right if you are Zoe & Stephen Smith, but it would be SZS if you are Steve and Sarah Zoidberg. (futurama reference!)
zSs is pretty much how it would look, or sZs if you got it wrong. You could go with just the last name initial on the cake and on the invites add some fancy detailing around it.
http://www.theinterpretersfriend.org/rlgn/vocab/z.gif (it doesn’t have to be this color or design but just something to get an idea from) Look up “illuminated letters” They were the decorated letters from the middle ages. Like the first letter of a story or something.
Q: Help! I am looking for a Christmas tree topper in the letter H.?
I am looking for one of the monogram style letters to top our Christmas tree. I picture it to be like the ones people use for their wedding cakes, decorated with swarovski crystals. Help me find it! I’m all searched out. Thanks.
A: Try this site have many swarovski crystals.
