Q: What are some cheap wedding ideas for a fall wedding in Oct. when money is tight?
We live in Ohio and an outside wedding in Oct. isn’t an option. What are some cheap things we can do? Money is very tight and would love to have a traditional wedding in a building with a reception with dancing and a DJ. Any ideas? Also how much money do you think it would cost. We were thinking of having like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, chicken, cheese, pickles. ect. And cupcakes instead of cake.

Thanks for any ideas!

A: Instead of hot dogs and hamburgers, which is summer picnic food in my mind, why not go with an Italian menu. Italian is relatively inexpensive and people tend to really enjoy it. I would find a good local Italian restaurant and inquire about ordering trays. My family loves Italian and we often order trays of chicken and ziti for family events, instead of cooking. I believe that a $60 tray of chicken serves about 20 people, at my local Italian place. But, I’m closer to New York, so this prices might be a bit inflated and it might be less expensive where you are in Ohio.

Italian goes with the more traditional reception you want to create. I also find that people are more satisfied eating a piece of chicken and some ziti than a hamburger. The cupcakes instead of cake is a good alternative too.

Q: Fall & Chef Themed Wedding Ideas?
Help I’m getting married in Nov. and i am planning on a fall themed wedding but i need help gathering info! anyone with fall themed invitations, table pieces, cakes, wedding favors, etc,…. my fiance is a Chef, so we are trying to incorporate chef theme as well ( mini whisks, cookie cutters in the shape of maple leaves etc.) any idea will be greatly appreacted. Thanks

A: My best friend’s son got married in the fall and they had small ornaments (burnt orange, brown and burnished gold, tied together with deep green ribbons. These were scattered over the tabletop. In your case I love the idea of adding mini whisks, etc. For the centerpiece I can envision bowls or tirered plates of artfully displayed fruits, nuts, leaves, etc. Or perhaps paper chef hats with tulle added as a wedding veil with the first idea scattered around it. What about the kind of fruit and veggie displays you see at fancy buffets or fruit kabobs? Edible centerpieces instead of flowers!

Why not use the maple leaf cookie cutter idea as napkin rings? For favors your fiance absolutely must have candy, sweets or whatever is his specialty at each place. Another idea might be a small collection of his favorite recipes. What about having a printer (or even doing it yourself on your computer) printing about a dozen recipes featuring pictures of both of you? I’d love receiving something like that and it would be very personal and novel.

I am sure that if you work with a printer they could help you design personal invitations. If you want to do something clever you could word the invitation like a recipe. Example:

Recipe For Wedding of “X” and “Y”

Take one “your name” given by “your parent’s name”
Add “your finace’s name” given by “his parent’s name”
Mix together well on “date” for “time”
To ensure the perfect union of the above ingredients please attend this event and watch carefully until done.

I am sure you can come up with a better way to state things, but you’ve got the idea.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage. Wishing you best of luck for a long life of cooking and eating together. :}

Q: anyone have any ideas for a cheap but still classy fall wedding ideas we will have approx 100 people?
We are getting married next sept and I am looking for some ideas for a fall themed wedding my grandmother is making my dress my dad is making my cake plus the food but we are on a very limited budget I am located in the baytown area of texas (south houston ) I am even willing to do it outside favor ideas food menus anything woud be helpful even location thank you

A: Use Fall colors – have Fall colored foilage (Orange, red, yellow – but subdued) and matching lighting. Our church had that last night and it was beautiful.
Make your favors in those colors too.

Q: Help with wedding cake/cupcake ideas….?
My fiance & I are considering this for our wedding cake:

We would have a small (maybe 2-tiered?) traditional cake for the cake-cutting ceremony. Then in place of the groom’s cake have a stand of chocolate cupcakes to be served to the guests.

Another idea I had was to have a large tiered stand of cupcakes, with half of them white (for the ‘bridal cake’) & then the other half chocolate (for the groom’s ‘cake’ ). So if you saw the stand from the front, the left side would be all chocolate & the right side all white. If we did this, should we forget the small traditional cake all together & just do cupcakes?

Which idea do you like better? Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated! Just so you know, we are having a laid-back, outdoor wedding in the fall. Between 80-100 guests.

A: We had our wedding in October of 2007. We opted for the 3-tiered traditional bride’s cake and cupcakes for the groom’s cake. Our cupcakes were a mix of chocolate and vanilla, but they were all decorated with an S on the top…our last initial.

We bought cute little boxes and put a ribbon and a label on them, and we put one at each place setting. So the cupcakes became our favors. Every guest took one home in the little box.

EDIT!! If you will email me, I can send you some pictures!

Q: Help! Groom and groomsmen tux colors for fall wedding?
I’m having my wedding in the fall, i have my cake ideas, dress ideas, decoration ideas, location, blah blah…
But i have no idea what colors to put my future hubby and his groomsmen in, in fact i know nothing about tuxes at all, does anyone know any tux styles that are nice and complimentary color ideas for a fall wedding?

A: The classic black tux is classic for a reason. If you want to get the vests in your wedding color, go for it, but keep the tux black.

Q: Any cheap ideas for a wedding in Fall 2009?
My fiance and I are having our wedding in October 2009 and are using persimmon (redish/orange) and gold as our two main fall colors with hints of brown and greens. We want our wedding to be very fallish so we have already bought silk leaves (which will be used on each side of the aisle and on our tables at the reception) and have ideas of what we want for our centerpieces (floating candles). His aunt is making our wedding cake and my church is preparing the meal (traditional Thanksgiving meal) so these things are covered. Our favors…we have no idea what to do as we are having 150 guests to make favors for. We know we don’t want to use any food products so maybe candles or something. Anyways, if you have any simple but elegant ideas please let me know. I can’t wait to hear from all of you. P.S. Incase this matters my dress is ivory and my bridesmaids are persimmon. My fiance is wearing an ivory tux and his men are wearing brown tuxes.

A: Some sort of candy really is the cheapest way to do favors.
I had a winter wedding and used cookie cutters and attached a card with a recipe and a little message from us on it. You could do the same with fall leaf cookie cutter or something. Super cheap to make and I had many guests tell me afterwards that they used them and made the recipe for their Christmas cookies! (I included a sugar cookie recipe, but you could do something more fall-ish)
OrientalTrading.com has some favor ideas that might work for you….
And back to the food… I think these http://www.favorideas.com/shopping/prod/GF-Apples.htm are adorable if you could make them yourself or know somone who could!!!
Otherwise, if you want candles or something, I’d try something like this: http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/ycbvp/freestyle.jsp?category=%2fRetail%2fPersonalized+Candles . You can easiliy make something cute like that on your own, and make it in your wedding colors.

Q: Can anyone help me with some wedding ideas/tips?
ok. first off me and my b/f are talking about getting married ne where between july and october of 09 (i personally would love october because we live in florida and it won’t be scorching hot.) neither one of us belong to a church nor go,but we wan’t to go to a church for a wedding. i say its a lil rude to marry in a church u are not a part of he says ppl do it all the time. option B can u ahve a christian wedding thats not in a church? also what are some pretty/cool places to get married in jacksonville, fl? what colors for a wedding/wedding party are nice for a fall wedding? cake flavors? im 5′0 and 85 lbs and hate heels is it extra to have a dress taken down a few sizes? id figure it would be ne way. even with all these wedding shows on we tv iv got nothing so if ne one can help me i would greatly apprciate it. thank u.

ps we both work weekends so church is hard for us otherwise we would

A: you don’t have to be a member of a church to get married in it. you can get married on the beach, in a park, garden, even your backyard. you can hire an officiant, which is person that can legally marry you but isn’t religious.

Q: Making my own cupcake wedding cake, any ideas?
Our original plan didn’t fall through and now my fiance and I are trying to find a cake vendor at the last minute for our upcoming wedding. The only thing is, we didn’t have to pay anything for our original idea and we hadn’t put much aside for it in our budget. Everyone said I should stay away from making my own wedding cake, but then I heard about cupcake wedding cakes.
Am I naive to think that I could probably easily pull this off? I would just need to make cupcakes, decorate ‘em and make a small slab cake for the top. What sort of things do I need to consider/plan on buying? Anyone recommend NOT doing this?

A: i thought about doing this. what i would do is have a cupcake party one or two nights before the wedding. invite over your mom, bridesmaids, close friends, etc and share the work! you can make it a girl’s night by providing some refreshments and the time would fly by and you’d be having fun.

spulurge on some pretty cupcake holders and buy an cupacake tree and you could have it all done, and looking awesome, for less than a hundred bucks!

good luck!

Q: fall wedding one day befor it turns autumn?
My wedding is Sept 21st one day before the first day of autumn. Is that ok to have leaves and things like that for decor even though its not officially fall? some years fall lands on the 21st. plus any fall ideas for head table, cake table, place card setting and other little things needed. I love crafts, plus we are on a tight budget so I will be doing it myself. Thanks!

A: Fall decor is perfectly acceptable anytime during Sept or even late August. As far as I know, the 21st always has been the Autumnal Equinox and always will be. But no one will boycott your wedding if you choose to have fall decor before the official start of the season. For example, people put out winter/Christmas decorations long before the winter season ever begins and no one throws a hissy fit over it, so why should fall be any different? Use whatever decor makes you happy and don’t let the calendar or even other people dictate what you do.

Q: Do you really need a wedding cake topper?
I’m having a fall themed cake, and I don’t really like the idea of a wedding cake topper. Is it absolutely necessary to have one? Would it look stupid if I didn’t? Thanks.

A: NO, you DO NOT have to have one! lot’s of people just have monograms now, or leave them bare – Crystal’s are popular now too – talk to your baker & look at caks in the bridal mags & on-line & get some ideas as to what you’d like

Q: My Redneck Wedding Ideas?
First off, all rednecks are not stupid, my husband-to-be is going to college to become a rad technician and I am a pharmacy technician. My fiance and I also have a very fun personality and are looking for fun ideas. Okay, here is the load down, I grew up on a farm with my family. I am a tomboy and this marriage stuff is starting to get on my nerves. Everyone is different and has different ideas, so even though some people think that must redneck weddings are gross and stupid, I do not. Every wedding is beautiful to me, wether you were raised in the city or in the country or even in between, everyone has their own unique style. Also, please do not post any rude comments if you think redneck or country weddings are stupid and not beautiful.

Hello, my name is Terra and my fiance’s name is Ryan. We are getting married on May 15th 2009 at 7:30 P.M. Our wedding will be taking place outside. My ideas for the ceremony are:

Theme: John Deere/Country
Colors: Green, yellow and white
Flowers: Sunflowers and cat tails (a type of plant)

I will be drove in by my daddy on his John Deere tractor and will be helped off the tractor by him also. (Wouldn’t it be funny if I fell!)

The maid of honor and brides maids will be wearing green dresses with white sashes. The best man and groomsmen will be wearing green button up shirts and blue jeans. The groom will wear a white button up shirt with blue jeans. I will be wearing a white wedding gown.

Guest will sit on square bails and the end piece will be a bouquet of sunflowers, cat tails and a small string of rope to tie them together.

The arch will be wooden with sunflowers and ribbon hanging from it.

My bouquet and the brides maids bouquets will also be sunflowers.

After we kiss, we will drive off in the tractor that I arrived on.

After the ceremony (reception) :
The reception will be held at my fiance’s church.

The tables will have a white table cloth with a smaller green table cloth on top. The center piece will be sunflowers and cat tails. Also, the napkins will be yellow.

We will be eating BBQ, greens and cornbread (a lot of southern food).

!?! Ok here is where I need help !?!
My wedding song when I walk down the aisle?
Our exit song when the ceremony is over?
First dance song (something short because neither I or my fiance can dance!)
Wedding cake ideas for the groom and bride?
Fun photography poses?
Entertainment: music, games and such for the reception?

A: Sounds fun. You have to incorporate the song “She thinks my tractor’s sexy in there somewhere”. How about for the exit song when the ceremony is over. A cute first dance song would be “Yes” (Brad Paisley and Chad Brock both do a version of it). It isn’t that short but have the guests join in right as you guys start dancing. Cakes can be in so many different shapes and stuff. I think it would be cute to get a cake shaped like a tractor with a bride and groom in it. Talk to a baker about doing something like that and they’ll make it happen. Again, a funny photo op would be you two driving into the sunset on a tractor. For a fun activity, have a hay ride, this would also be great for photos. Maybe do something fun like square dancing lessons to country music and hire a country band to play at the wedding. Something really cheesy would to have an auction for funny things like the centerpeices or dances with the bride and groom.

Q: What is the best recipe for a carrot wedding cake?
and if you could, some good fall themed decorating ideas? thanks!

Q: What do you think of my wedding cake? What colors would you do?
The link below is my wedding cake… my colors are pink and brown. I wanted to do all the white- brown with 2 different pink accents like shown. My fiance wants to leave the base white and just make one of the pinks the brown. I think he’s just stuck on the wedding cakes are suppose to be white idea. Which one do you perfer and why?

http://www.sweetmemoriesbakery.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=2&pos=83

It’s the first one in the album pink and white.

And we are having a fall wedding.
Making sure you understand me- I want the base of the cake to be brown…
My fiance wants the base white.
Cake is 84/92 if you can’t see the one I am talking about.
YES- LOL- it will be chocolate buttercream and chocolate fundont.

I like it busy, it’s the Mad Hatter cake!!

A: I ADORE IT! It would be great either way, but I think the brown and pink would be cuter. maybe it is that he’s just stuck on white cakes, I understand, for me to get black polka dots on mine was a fight for a year, but I got them in the end and everyone loved it! for compromise, you could do mostly pink and brown, but instead of 2 shade of pink, you could accent with white so he gets some of his way, but its mostly yours b/c I totaly agree that your ways better!
