Q: I need a great beach/tropical wedding cake idea!?
I have looked EVERYWHERE!! I cant find anything original or inspiring. My colors are yellow and orange, I dont like the shells clumped up on the cake or scattered weirdly. I just want an amazing cake and am lost…HELP PLEASE! Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

A: You could have beautiful tropical flowers surrounding it like beautiful hibiscus flowers in your colors. Here is an example you could do with fake flowers made with iceing.

Q: Casual wedding reception favor ideas? (Beach/Tiki theme.)?
I am having a casual backyard reception with just some close friends and family. (About 20-25 people, half of them probably under the age of 12.) My colors are raspberry, orange, green, and natural or “tan” color for loosley themed tiki or tropical idea. My invitations had a tan naturally speckled color (like dark recycled paper) for the background, and a heavily textured cream colored linen paper for the foreground with brown Papyrus font, cream colored flowers, and a brown twine tying it together. The cake will be white with pink and orange roses and green vines. The backyard is huge, and we bought a 13′ pool for the kids to play in. We will have white paper lanterns, bamboo, barbecue chicken, rice, a variety of salads, maybe some spam musubi, and punch, etc…

I REALLY need ideas for favors. (If you mention Jordan Almonds I’ll throw up…lol) Something UNQUIE. Something that the whole family can enjoy.

A: I’d go with beach style candles.

Q: What are your opinions on these cakes?
I am having a beach themed wedding but I don’t want a cake with sea shells and stuff on it. I want some thing more tropical like. Any ideas or suggestions?

Only having about 30 guests
Don’t want a traditional cake, don’t need one that is really big, and I don’t want to make my own.

Thanks!

A: I like the first one personally. Maybe a bit bigger though, depending on number of guests

Q: I’m just curious which sounds better?
I was thinking one day i’m gonna get married so I had these ideas in mind which one would people attending enjoy most?
1. regular small the 2 colers of flowers church wedding with a ingles cake.
2. a tropical wedding on an island or just themed on a beach or somthing. i wouldn’t have 2 look like a boring traditional snow beast. and the cake would be pineapple flavor.
3. a biker wedding complete with plenty of black and chains during a rally.
4. las vagas run away & get married @ 3:00 in the morning right after the proposal.

I’m leaning toward the tropical one but i want some other opinions.
Also 4 the honeymoon
1. italy
2. hawaii
3. camping out in a really nice resort far from other sites in an rv or tent if it doesn’t rain.
4. ride across the country on a bike soaking up the fun.
5. Go 2 a thrill park with some friends and have fun in the hotel afterwards.

If you’ve tried any of these let me know how u liked it or if not which one sounds the most romantic & fun.

A: I Like no #1 for wedding

And # 1 For honeymoon

A Small church wedding is a classic and a memory for you .

Italy is fascinating .
Get a Euro Rail pass and go all over Italy . The food is great .
the Ice Cream is killer .
Beaches , mountains , History

Q: im having a luau reception for my wedding and to cut my cost on food and service im doing it myself… HELP…
Basically im making ym own cake, im preparing food myself, and making the snacks and such (to lower the cost im paying for it) My theme if luau/tropical and i have some ideas for food ideas like kaboobs and fruit kaboobs and stuff like that, are their any sort of punches or drinks tropical styles for adults (alcohol included) im having a seperate table for adults and children so ideas for both would be awesom!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: Do foods that “hold” well and can be made the day before. You don’t mention how many guests, but kabobs can be very time consuming especially ones with meat on them. The fruit ones not so bad.
Be very sure that you have enough refigerated space to store all the food.Proper temps must be kept for all hot and cold foods.
Fruit platters are just as nice and look lovely.I would do an assortment of salads, cold cuts, cheeses, crackers, crusty breads or rolls and fresh veggies and rolled cold cuts.
For your fruit tray,if you center the top of a fresh pineapple and place the assorted fruit around it,it looks great.Add the pineapple chunks, strawberries, melons, grapes etc.
You can dress up the meat and cheese platters with fresh parsley or herbs of your choice and use your cake for the centrepiece.
Dips can be made for the fruit and veggies.
This way,I presume the children would enjoy these foods too and it would save a lot of time.
A good punch for a luau is Pineapple juice, orange juice, cranberry juice and gingerale or seven-up.Leave it plain for the children and add vodka for the adults.Very tasty.
Good luck and it can be fun doing up all the food and drinks.Just give yourself enough time and don’t stress.

Q: Cocktail and desert reception?
I answered a question a few days ago asking to choose between 2 different receptions. One was the typical sit down and the other was a desert reception. After reading this I fell in love with the idea.

We have a fantastic caterer in my area who could pull this off perfectly. I’m thinking about a 7:00 pm outdoor ceremony in late May followed by a 2 hour cocktail reception. I’m thinking these for the hor dourves:

Mini Beef Wellington
Mini Chicken Cordon Bleu
Herbed Scallops wrapped in Bacon
Mini Potato Pancakes (not as classy but I have fond childhood memories of these)
Shrimp Cocktail
Oriental Lobster Dumplings
Imported Cheese Display
Vegetable & Dip Display

I feel that with this amount of options, it would basically be a full meal. Each “package” is per person per hour. That means that until the 2 hour cocktail reception is over, they will continue to serve our selected hor dourves no matter how many they go through. The same goes for the desert reception below.

We will also have a champagne toast and a limited open bar for the entirety of the reception.

The last two hours will be a desert reception. I have yet to find a cake that inspires me so I thought about just offering tons of different options for our guests to try. Im thinking:

Viennese Selections :
Miniature Eclairs
Cream Puffs
Napoleons
Cheese Cakes
Canolis
Tartlets
Chocolate and Fruit Desserts
Petit Fors
Fancy Cookies
Tropical Fruits and Berries
(These will be on each table for the guests to choose from)

Ice Cream Station:
Assortment of ice cream flavors
Assortment of cones
Assortment of toppings
(This will be self serve)

Milk Chocolate Fountain:
Fruit
Pretzels
Marshmellows
Cookies

Gourmet Coffee & Espresso Display:
Assortment of speciality flavors, creamers, truffles and cordial option.

We could add a chef attended belgium waffle or crepe display as well but I think thats just going overboard.

We will obviously not be serving a full sit down meal but will still have all of the other details of an average wedding (special dances, DJ, photographer, toasts, etc).

I have wanted something different for so long. At this point in my life, after DOZENS of weddings, they all just mesh together. I dont remember what our friends served at their wedding a few weeks ago. Thats how little impact the details of the wedding had on me. I think everyone will remember being in a desert heaven. Especially the appetites in my family!

Not to mention it will cost much less than the average sit down dinner.

Honest opinions please.
Mrsmeans-

Your probably right on the food thing. We are definitely still having tables, just as if it was a sit down dinner.

A: LOVE the idea. Very nice. I do think, however, that you could cut down on the number of sweets you are offering….but that’s just my opinion. If you want all of them, they all sound great.

But, I do agree, that this would be one reception that would be very different. Mmmmm….it’s sounds yummy to me!

Good luck.
