A: I LOVE numbers 2 & 4. They both have a very romantic look to them. Number 5 is very pretty but doesn’t look like a wedding cake to me. Birthday maybe? Not sure. :)

Q: What is this cake made out of?
I’m having a friend make our wedding cake, and I found a picture of a beautiful cake, but I’m not sure what kind of icing it is. If you can tell, let me know. Here’s the link

A: It is probably Royal icing – most are

Q: do you like this cake and bouquet?

bouquet:

cake:

and if anyone has any pictures of center pieces it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

A: Gorgeous! I really like the bouquet. The cake is pretty too, but I think it has a few too many “things” on it. Perhaps you might want to scale it down and have more cake than decoration (maybe just remove the tea lights). Overall, it’s lovely though. My friend had a cake with similar colors for November, and it was all decorated with autumn leaves.

If you go to http://www.theknot.com and do a search for centerpieces under the colors orange or red, you’ll find a lot of ideas.

Q: How should I kick my bridesmaid from my wedding party?
I got engaged early November 2009. I immediately picked out and asked my two bridesmaids to be in the wedding that is coming up in early October 2010. One of them lives about 40 miles from me where she goes to College. I had asked if she thought it would be a problem to come down for dress shopping and basic wedding stuff (shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal+rehearsal dinner, wedding) because I would understand if she couldn’t make it down because of whatever reasons..money, busy with college, whatever. She said it wasn’t a problem at all and she would come down soon to dress shop and discuss other things. A few months later when I was getting into planning colors and such I asked her if there was anywhere around there where she lives now that could give her her measurements and I’d help her look for a dress if she couldn’t make it so I could make it easier on her. She said not to worry and she’d just come around here soon to shop with me and the other bridesmaid. Then she finds out around late January or so that she is going to be doing this internship about 700 miles away during fall of 2010 (which is when my wedding is of course) but that she’d be happy to fly down for anything I needed her for. I asked if she was sure and I didn’t want to get in the way of her awesome time with the internship and she said it was no problem at all. A few weeks later she drove over to the city I live and texted me about midnight asking if I wanted to meet her at a local bar where she was with her other friends from around here. I couldn’t because I was working and she left for back home in the wee hours of the morning..of course the time that she was in town was when no dress shops were open. She told me she’d be back again soon to dress shop. I have bought my dress, my MOH bought hers around February, I have the cake and venue and invites and photographer and some decorations picked..I mean my fiance and I are close to being finished with planning this but without her picking a dress I can’t choose the floral arrangements or the groomsmens tuxes since they are supposed to match and all. My MOH asked nicely about two weeks ago if she knew when she could come down and she said she had just gotten done with finals and had her summer break and time to come down “soon” (same word she’s used for months) and with 4 months and a few odd days now I think soon isn’t coming soon enough! I haven’t asked for her help on anything I just need her to pick out a dress. I gave her the choice of a good few colors and said ANY style works and said she could browse online and send me pictures of ones she liked if she couldn’t make it here but even that hasn’t happened. I would hate to see the wedding come between us as friends but I vowed to my fiance and I we’d plan this thing in a timely manner as best we could so that the weeks leading up wouldn’t be SO stressful. So far we’ve done a great job of this. Also, I have another girl that would be willing to take her place and take over as soon as I give her the green light. Dress shop and start helping my MOH plan the shower and bachelorette party (which the other bridesmaid hasn’t asked about yet either) and another thing, the bridesmaid was supposed to come to my and my fiances house warming party last weekend, said she was coming and never showed and no explanation. My MOH is known for being unreliable but she’s the one thats doing good! I just need another bridesmaid that will take some initiative. Bridesmaid number one has had almost 7 months..with only 4 left I don’t think I can handle anymore waiting..and if she isn’t going to drive 40 miles for dress shopping or a party she said she’d come to (but will for drinking apparently) I doubt she will FLY 700 miles to attend the wedding and the events leading up to it. So hopefully you guys don’t think I am being a bridezilla, but either way what should I say to her to let her know I want to replace her before its too late?

A: This a VERY childish and irresponsible thing that she is doing. Tell her that she is causing trouble that could have been avoided, and if she doesn’t get her act together she will be replaced.

Has she done things like this before? if she has, she might think that she can be irresponsible and
get away with it. Once someone she knows threatens her like this, she might get her act together and stop being so immature.

This is a wedding you’re talking about. There is no room for silly ladies who are only causing you frustration. Hope your wedding goes well!

Q: Do It Yourself Wedding Tips!?
Okay so first off I am getting married on May 23, 2009 and I am pretty much just working on the little details. Since we are on a budget we are pretty much doing everything ourselves. As far as the photography we are having a friend take the pictures for us. I dont see the need to spend thousands of dollars on a photographer. Also we are having two or my fiances friends be our D.J.’s. I am just pretty much having them introduce our parents, the bridal party and then us. I also am having them say something a little bit before we cut the cake and do the special dancing. Does anybody think I should have them say anything else. Just making sure I’m not missing anything. Also what order do things normally get done at a wedding reception? The reception is from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. So I figured to introduce everybody would take about 15 to 20 minutes. Then I didnt know if we should eat. (buffet style). So I just need some ideas on the order we should do things. I dont want his two friends to have to do to much. Thank you to anybody for their good advice.

A: Please make a list for your friends to follow as you and they will be in a different mode once your reception starts.

1. Guests arrive (soft music should be playing)
2. Bridal party announced (this includes flower girl, ring bearer,bridesmaids,groomsmen,maid/matron of honor and best man)
3. Bride and Groom announced (Mr. & Mrs. ________)

4. Bride & Groom go directly to cake table (This gets the cake picture taken at the perfect time before the cake starts to droop due to room temperature)
5. Bride & Groom (should be served even with a buffet)
6. Bridal Party (goes through buffet line first)
7. Guests now may go through buffet line
8. After you have finished eating (please know that your guests and relatives will be interacting with you as you eat) have them announce that the first dance (Bride & Groom) will be taking place shortly.
9. Father/Daughter dance,Mother/Son dance
10. Everyone else can join in
11. Bouquet Toss (clear dance floor, have single ladies stand and wait to catch the bouquet)
12. Garter Toss (Bride sits in chair, groom comes up to remove garter, then garter is tossed to single guys)
13. Announce that the guest can enjoy the cake!

There are variations to the above, but you want to make sure that all posed (portrait) pictures are done at the beginning of the reception and not at the end. This allows your dress, makeup, shoes, flowers to look fresh in the pictures. Otherwise your dress will be smudged with dirt, makeup smeared from crying, shoes off the feet because after awhile you want to be comfortable and flowers will not be wilted.

Q: I’m getting married to my marine and i need a little bit of help with plans help ladies!?
Okay so the wedding is next year in december 2009. I’m going to be 20 years old. and he will be 21. and i want a simple wedding and i want a creative cake i mean like different not your average cake i want it to be crazy! I also want my pictures to be amazing and different also any suggestions? i live in texas so help me here. Thanks ladies.

A: as a wedding photographer, I can tell you the one thing you don’t want to skimp on is the pictures. after the cake is gone and the dress is put away, you only have the pictures to remember the day. that’s what I tell my brides. I’ve seen toooooo many brides who trusted good ole uncle bob because he has a camera to take the pictures and have nothing to show for them. just because a photographer may be cheap, doesn’t mean they are good. shop around, ask for referals, but don’t skimp on the photographer! do a web search of contemporary wedding cakes, save a couple of images of the ones you like, then take those to some local bakeries and see if they can make one. Good luck!

Q: Anyone know a cheap wedding photographer near Akron, Ohio?
We are getting married on June 13, 2009. The cheapest I have found is Affordable Photography, with a cost of $700 for 6 hours of service. I am not looking for anything real fancy, I can make, and would rather make my own album from pictures taken. Just want a lot of originals, or a CD full of pictures that i could print them myself at walmart. I am on a tight budget and $1000 is way to much out of my range. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, any ideas for a good place to get a cheaper cake? $300 is the average price I am finding. Again, looking for a simple but nice cake to serve 75-100 guests.
*nix the cake part, cake was bought :)

A: Hi! The yahoo answers community is great for ideas, but is open to everyone around the world.

If you go to www.theknot.com they have a local community talk section, where you can post questions and get ideas from other Ohio brides.

Good luck!

Q: What are these mysteries?
There are so many mysteries in life, so many question i have to ask but yet cant get the write words to ask them and if i do, they are never answered, questios like what is really in the bermuda triangle? Which of Adam and Eve’s children are my ancestors? But my main question is did my grandfather really visit me or was it just a dream…

My real story

my grandfather and grandma raised me. Grandpa passed away in april 2009..the day he died i prayed to god with all my heart that i wished i can at least see him one more time, i was supposed to call him the day before he died and never did and i regret that with all my heart..well less than a week after his burial.. like 4 days later i had a dream that i was buying candy from the store and when i was paying i took a step back and stepped on a woman’s foot,, i said i’m sorry, she said its ok i dont have a foot, i looked down and it was true, her feet werent there, and she had black stuff on it, i went walking on and i saw a handome young man all dressed in white with a veeeeeeeeeeeryy bright light behind me and i felt him saying no, as if he were telling me i was doing something wrong yet he didnt speak.i couldnt see his face clearly but i can definitly tell he was my grandpa because he resembled his wedding picture of when he was like 20.anyways was telling me not to eat the candy without speaking a word..i droped the candy and the dream ended…my grandfather died because of complications to his health..he had diabetes for eating too much candy cake ect…his foot was cut off when i was 14…im obese….i think the woman without feet in the dream was me in my future if i didnt start getting healthy..im 17 now i am now on a diet and doing exercises everyday..

**i really need to know, did he visit me? or is this all in my head..i was raised not to believe in heaven or hell as for my mother is a Jehovahs witness, but i cant help what i feel and what i saw!! Nothing or no one can tell me what i saw was fake..i just need to now can people visit you in your sleep? did he or was this all made up in my head??

A: I think that our connections with loved ones goes way beyond ordinary definitions or even beyond what others may find “rational” or acceptable as reality.
Sometimes people speak of faith because of what they come to believe from their own personal experiences forming true conviction. Sometimes faith can be a path without any question, accepting everything without a peep! I think true faith comes from the first definition and the second is not a true faith coming from a building of trust in our own feelings and convictions, but from a giving up in the face of fear.
From your sharing, which I think is truly beautiful, you have shown that you’ve had an experience that has formed a true conviction and also created new faith within you. Faith in the reality of love beyond this life, beyond the ordinary. You have discovered love beyond ordinary definition and ordinary terms. How precious and wonderful!
Yes, I do believe that this is real. The reality of what you have experienced and your concept of it may also evolve with your understanding and deepening of your own feelings. These strong feelings may take you beyond simple ideas of heaven or hell also. There is a word in the Buddhist tradition called “bardo”. The basic definition is “between state”. I’m not soliciting another religion to you, but just mentioning there are concepts and teachings that may go beyond what you currently have been exposed to. Keep an open mind, no matter what I or anyone else says. Believe in what you know to be true. Have faith in yourself to take this wisdom and utilize it to change and transform yourself for a more positive and healthy life.
I believe you are blessed and are a person who lives with sensitivity and compassion. After some time you will probably be able to expand this love to others, you will learn to live and love in a way that will also go beyond the ordinary… and you will be an extra-ordinary person in this world.
