Q: I have a weding coming I need help with a cupcake wedding cake?
Does anyone know where I could rent cupcake wedding cake stands!!! your help will be appreciated.

A: Any local party place in your town should have them available. You can also purchase them at a craft store like Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or JoAnnes. Good Luck. Great idea!

Q: Looking for Gold decoration ideas for a cupcake wedding cake.?
I have been asked ot make a cupcake wedding cake for this weekend (YIKES, nothing like short notice). The wedding colours are gold and olive green. Does any one have any ideas for decorating thecupcakes/cake stand with things that are gold???

A: There is this thing called “gold foil”, it’s a thin thin layer of “gold” like material and I’m almost positive it’s edible. Michael’s has it. You could put brown frosting with gold foil and olive green detail maybe- depending on how creative you are :)

Good luck!

Q: Help with wedding cake/cupcake ideas….?
My fiance & I are considering this for our wedding cake:

We would have a small (maybe 2-tiered?) traditional cake for the cake-cutting ceremony. Then in place of the groom’s cake have a stand of chocolate cupcakes to be served to the guests.

Another idea I had was to have a large tiered stand of cupcakes, with half of them white (for the ‘bridal cake’) & then the other half chocolate (for the groom’s ‘cake’ ). So if you saw the stand from the front, the left side would be all chocolate & the right side all white. If we did this, should we forget the small traditional cake all together & just do cupcakes?

Which idea do you like better? Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated! Just so you know, we are having a laid-back, outdoor wedding in the fall. Between 80-100 guests.

A: We had our wedding in October of 2007. We opted for the 3-tiered traditional bride’s cake and cupcakes for the groom’s cake. Our cupcakes were a mix of chocolate and vanilla, but they were all decorated with an S on the top…our last initial.

We bought cute little boxes and put a ribbon and a label on them, and we put one at each place setting. So the cupcakes became our favors. Every guest took one home in the little box.

EDIT!! If you will email me, I can send you some pictures!

Q: which would look better for a wedding cake?
Need to use a bit of imagination, we are doing a cupcake wedding cake, we really like the idea and have not found any other cakes we like. We have narrowed it down to two options.

Option 1: Traditional cupcakes with white swirl icing, not as many sprinkles as this and no candle, http://www.mycupcakerecipes.com/cupcakes/cupcake-recipes.jpg
in these liners http://www.bakerscups.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_15&products_id=89

these liners are the exact shade of my shoes and the grooms pocket square

or

Option 2 http://www.ladyscreations.net/cupcakes_040_Large_Web_view.jpg
with a lighter purple and darker sprinkles that match the shoes and pocket square in white liners

to be displayed on something like this http://www.weddingcupcakes.org/images/wedding_cupcake_stand.jpg and we may make a matching mini cake to actually do the traditional cutting of the cake for the bride and groom for the top

thanks.
Diana – I just had one of those wow I never thought of that moments lol thank you! I like the idea of using the liners with both purple and white icing swirls,

should they alternate by colored tier like one all purple, the next all white, or should the colors alternate on each tier?

The wedding is elegant with some fun twists, hard to describe without going into massive details
I think its going to be a very fun night but nothing outrageously outgoing, if that makes any sense

A: I was at a wedding that did this and they did a couple different kinds of icing which I thought looked very nice, but the also did different kinds of cupcakes(btw I really like the purple icing). They had vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and marbled. I liked that because then everyone got to pick what they wanted. Just a thought :) Hope this helps, And Congratulations!!

Q: Cup-Cake Stand?
Rather than purchase a wedding cake, we chose to go with the 120 cupcakes that the vendor included in our contract for our reception. My fiance and I are looking for a place that rents OR sells cupcake stands in the state of California or Arizona. We have no use for a cupcake stand after the wedding, so we would prefer renting one.
We might also have the option to downsize it to 80 wedding cupcakes since we have roughly 40 guests.
I might be able to rent tiered cake plates for them too?

A: I would seriously look into buying them, because most likely you will end up renting one or more for more than it would cost you to buy. Look around at costco, walmart, ross, etc. Another option would be to use a few cake stands that are different heights and fill those and then put the rest on the table itself.

Q: cake stand?
Hi,
I’m looking for a wedding cake stand. Our daughter is having cupcakes with a solid cake on top for cutting. I have seen a casa domani 4 tier stand on ebay (missed out on it), but can’t find one anywhere to purchase. We liked this one because it was “Chantilly Lace” pattern, however are interested in anything that may be similar. We can’t find more than 3 tiers of any ceramic type at the moment, and they just aren’t big enough. We are in Sydney and would love some feedback! Thanks.

A: Try looking at kitchen shops. House, David Jones, Myer etc may have nice cake stands. I would just look around. In the mean time, keep checking ebay.
This one finishes REALLY soon so have a look:

Q: I need a good cupcake recipe (for a wedding)?
My sister is getting married and isn’t having a big wedding. We’re going to make cup cakes and put them on a cupcake stand shaped like a cake. I need Chocolate and Vanilla cupcake recipe that tast yummy. Also What’s a good frosting to use. The frosting out of a can doesn’t usually as good as the cupcakes you buy at like a bakery. What kind of frosting do they use? Is there any good recipes for frosting?

A: Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cupcakes
14 regular cupcakes / 375 degree oven

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temp
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 large eggs, room temp
3/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoons vanilla

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Beat butter until softened. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until well combined.
4. Measure the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder into a small sized bowl and whisk to combine.
5. Measure out the milk and vanilla and stir to combine
6. Add about a third of the dry ingredients to the butter/sugar and beat to combine. Add about a half of the milk/vanilla and beat to combine. Continue adding, alternating between dry and wet and finishing with the dry.
7. Scoop batter into cupcake cups about 2/3’s full. Turn oven down to 350 degrees and bake cupcakes for about 22-25 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Note: I try to use the best quality cocoa I can find. It makes a huge difference. For this recipe I used Valrhona cocoa. Its so dark that the batter is almost purple.

Note: This cupcake recipe is the kind that will result in a flat cupcake (not domed). One thing you must be careful of is over-filling the cupcake paper. I did just that with the last cupcake and the result was a sunken hole (see photo below). If the cake continues to rise and has no where to go and will one over flow and two start to sink back on itself as it doesn’t have the structure to hold the excess batter up. So, stick to 2/3’s full and don’t be tempted (as I was) to squeeze that last bit of batter into one of the papers.

Chocolate Frosting
adapted from Martha Stewart’s Baking Handbook

5.3 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tablespoons boiling water
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, room temperature
1/2 cup powdered sugar

1. Chop the chocolate and place in a heat proof bowl. Melt over a pan of gently simmering water. Remove from heat and let cool for 15 – 20 minutes.
2. Dissolve the cocoa powder in the boiling water in a small bowl. Set aside.
3. In an electric mixer, beat butter until creamy. Scrape the bowl.
4. Add powdered sugar and beat to combine.
5. Add cooled, melted chocolate and beat to combine.
6. Add cocoa paste and beat to combine.
Vanilla Cupcakes
removed until it can be retested

Soft Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

1 stick (1/2 cup) butter, room temperature
1-1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk

1. Beat butter at medium-high speed until creamy.
2. Sift powdered sugar into the mixer bowl (right on top of the beaten butter). Beat to combine.
3. Add the vanilla and the milk. Beat until combined.

Note: This makes a softer, less sweet buttercream that is good for swirling on but not for piping as it’s not stiff enough.

Assemble
1. Spoon about a tablespoon of frosting onto each cooled cupcake. The frosting recipes make just enough for about a tablespoon each.
2. With a small offset spatula, smooth the frosting into a swirl.
3. Top with sprinkles.

I frosted some vanilla with vanilla and some with chocolate and vice versa. I ended up with 4 combos total. My favorite was the chocolate cake with the vanilla buttercream frosting. Yum!

Q: Is it ok to have your wedding “cake” not match the wedding colors?
I’m doing a cupcake tier, with a mini-cake on top. My fiance and I love chocolate, which is the flavor for the mini cake. For the cupcake tiers, we are having a variety of cupcakes of different flavors. So I’m trying to figure out a way to make the whole stand seem uniform. If my wedding colors are lavender and red, how can my dessert stand represent those colors?

A: You can do different shades of purple and red… Like pinks, fuchsias, lavender, deep red, etc. Throwing some shades of green in there will look nice as well… Or gold, not both. But, don’t get too carried away on colors.

A: my favorite is modern with iced flowers and decorations. My wedding cake is 5 tiers, all differant sizes, blue, with little blue flowers and edible pearls and in white icing little saying are written all over the cake, like ‘Happiness, To Have and To Hold, Happily Ever After’ ,etc.

Q: Cutting corners for the wedding? I need any tips.?
I was going to pay 200.00 for silk flowers. Yesterday, My Matron of honor and I went to Michael’s and bought the flowers. Paid only $77.00
The bridesmaids and mothers are only carrying a single flower. (Very pretty, very elegant) So… I cut alot of corners, but still pretty.

My bridesmaid and I are making my cupcake wedding cake. There is only 60 guest will be there. So i figured, I make 35, and she make 35.

Now, I know you thinking “where is she going to find the time” Well, with the economy and My Fiance and I work at a Car dealership that is fixing to go under. I have no choice but to make time. 53 days till the wedding. And We have Non-refundable deposits. I am going through this. We have a DJ and a photographer. Paid for. So, im not cutting back on that.
Im thinking of cancelling thr caterier. Wehave not put money down on that. The girl said 450.00. Well I think I can buy the food for 100.00
Im going to make my famous pin-wheels. And bring a vege tray. And subway has this $5.00 foot longs. I can get 5 of those and cut them up small. I have a punch fountain and a cupcake stand. What I want to know, what else can I serve cheap and go a long way. Im thinking of making meatballs and keep it in my croc-pot and serve that. It a white pot. the wedding is pink and white. ANY !!!! Suggestions, Please, I need help.

A: okay here are some quick tips for you, instead of subway, go to walmart and get their 5′ long sub, it will be a lot cheaper in the end, and they will cut it for you, and its’ like $8.00 that’s it.

you can always do the food cheaper yourself, or buying it at the store, always remember that, actually, you could have a picnic reception the day before or before the ceremony depending on the time or after, i went to one of those and it was great. really relaxed, she bought 2 buckets of chicken at kfc, and the sides, and we served ourselves, it was a nice change.

pasta is cheap and filling, especially with garlic sticks or bread

my husband is in the army, so our wedding date got moved up a month, i’m doing all the food myself, i’m having 3 photography students take pictures, and then 4 guests are going to get a camera to take pic too, my dad is videoing it for us, with our camera, and his, he’s sitting his up in the back, and ours up behind the arch where we will say our vows so we get 2 veiws of our day, i rented an old house in our town for $50 and i have it all day. i’m even thinking of asking the guests to bring a flower each for me to take on my way up to the arch to form my boquet. little stuff like that. we eliminated the dj by having a friend use his ipod, just look at the little stuff like that, go to dollar tree and get stuff for a dollar, you can’t tell the diff.

have your mom or friend do your hair and makeup too, that cuts down on costs. good luck congrats, answer mine please http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvIP81xPucUD3ts2U2o4Qb7sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090323193829AAmgqbV/

if you go to church you can have the woman’s group do the food, also if you do a dessert reception you can go to sam’s or costco’s and get the food from their bakery cheaper than a caterer.

Q: Searching for a cake stand to hold about 200 cupcakes!?
For our wedding, my fiance and I are planning on having a “cupcake cake” rather than an actual cake. We’re going to serve a couple different flavors that way people can choose what they like. Now, though, I am searching for some kind of tiered cake or dessert stand that can hold about 200 cupcakes. Most of the ones I’ve found max out around 50 or so. Or the really large ones cost almost $200. I mean, I guess if all else failed we could have a couple stands. But I would love to find one that could hold them all if possible and not be so expensive. Thanks so much!

A: I haven’t seen any that big, but maybe you could get the one that fits 50 and put it in middle of the table with the rest of the cupcakes on trays around it/either side of it.

Congratulations

Q: Chocolate hearts for wedding cupcakes?
As some of you know we are having a chocolate themed wedding. Our cake is made up of one 7″ cake on the top with several layers of cupcakes on a stand below. The cupcakes will be of vanilla and chocolate but will all be wrapped in a gold foil paper that has a heart filigree punched out of it. They will all have an ivory colored white chocolate flavored frosting. I also want them to have little milk chocolate filigree hearts on each one, but I’m having a terrible time trying to find them, or even a web site that shows you how to make them yourself. Any ideas? Or has anyone even seen a cupcake like this?

Sort of like this only smaller

If you had to make them yourself … this looks like something that your baker ought to be able to do, too…

Q: Wedding ceremony/reception songs?
I’m having a small, causal church wedding(we’re taking 35-40 guests). I’m not even certain if I want to have a bridal party yet.

Anyway, I’m pretty clueless when it comes to what’s needed for the ceremony music wise. I haven’t been to too many weddings so I’m needing to know the normal ceremony…program I guess. What music should be playing before the wedding? I don’t want guess walking in and seating down in a dead silent church. There needs to be some sort of music, right? Would having an acoustic guitarist playing pretty music be appropriate enough?

If I had a bridal party what music do they walk down the aisle too? I really love folk music and I don’t want lyrics sang during the procession. Also, what do I walk down to? Is there a contemporary versions of the wedding march? I don’t want anything pop or country.

And during the ceremony, is it suppose to be silent while the officiant talks and during our vows? We’re planning to perform the salt covenant (like a sand ceremony but with salt.) during that I have a version of You are My Sunshine I want played and sang. During this we also want to surprise our parents with giving the mother a flower and reading to our parents a short framed letter about how much they have done for us and how much we love them.

Does there need to be music played after we’ve been pronounced husband and wife and when we’re having the receiving line?

I’m so confessed on how all of this is suppose to happen. My fear is things will come off cheap and tacky. The reception is going to be in the church basement. I’m having a cupcake wedding cake (top tier a regular wedding cake and then cup cakes on stands going down), punch, and finger foods. There won’t be alcohol or dancing, so does their need to be music at the reception? I’m just afraid it’s going to be so quite and no one will talk. I don’t want things to be awkward. (My family and his side don’t know each other well at all because of the distance each other lives.) We both have small families and I really want to avoid awkwardness between the two sides.

So um, how is this all suppose to go down? :)
I should have proofread this thing. Sorry!

A: I am a massage therapist. The reason I bring this up is because music played during massage therapy is strangely appropriate to use as nice atmospheric music for your guests to walk in and find their seats to. Specifically flute and string music is my favorite.

As far as music for the actual procession, if you know of a song that you really like, you can just have the chords for the song, without the lyrics playing for it. That’s usually pretty easy to find. I would just suggest picking something that the two of you like.

During the ceremony I am going to have there won’t be any music, only because I want people to hear what is being said. After all, that’s what a wedding is all about, getting married.

As far as the reception is concerned, my thought are that music always adds to atmosphere. You don’t have to play anything loud or fast-paced, but something nice in the background I would find to be necessary. I am the type of person that feels if there is not some sort of atmospheric noise or music, I can really tell, but that’s just me.

You might want to look at getting a string quartet or duet to play during the ceremony and reception. The effect of live musicians might be really nice. And a tip, if you go to the local college’s music department you can usually hire a group for a lot less then you would pay a professional musician and they are just as good.

Anyway, these are just my suggestions and things that I will be planning. The main thing to remember is to just do what you and your fiancee want, it’s about the two of you first and foremost. Everyone will enjoy whatever you provide for them.

Hope this helps.

Chelsie.
