A: How do you make a cake without knowing the design in advance??? It’s a little late to be asking such a question, don’t you think? And why would you trust our opinions on your creation that we can’t even see? Besides, why do you need us to search the web for you? Just type “wedding cake designs” with or without the quotes in your favorite search engine. And, for goodness sake, don’t let that cake dry out completely!!!

P.S. What the heck is “gcse”??? Aside from the mutliple spelling errors throughout your question, don’t assume that we know every slang, lingo, text message style, etc! Be clear and concise! That will get you better, if not more, answers! (again, though, don’t procrastinate!!!)

Q: I need to know the different type of wedding cake designs…?
I know there is basketweave and lattice work but what other designs are popular as far as icing decorating? Thanks! Any websites would be great. I just need to know the basic designs to choose from.

Q: What are some different ideas for wedding cake designs?

A: i wouldnt put too much money into the cake.
our wedding cake was all white with cream on the edges and surface that looked like lace. and we had real dark red roses.

i really wanted a white cake that was covered completley with white edable roses. that would of been soooooo cool and different. but no one in europe made this kinds of cakes.

we had our wedding there so we planned and bought everything there. but our cake turned out great. it matched my dress and flowers.

Q: Does anyone know where I can get ideas for wedding cake designs?
My mom is making my wedding cake because there will only be 5 people, including myself and my fiance. I don’t want anything fondant, but I want it to be relatively simple. I want some pink in it as well, but if I could find a design, I could change the colors, to colors I want. My mom took cakedecorating years ago, but I just don’t want to do anything too advanced. I want small cakes, a 2-tier, so we can freeze the top one. I don’t care if it’s square or round, but I kinda like the square cakes. I am including a link below of the first cake I picked out, but it’s fondant, so I decided against it unless I can’t find anything else. I’m getting married the first week of July, so I need to get an idea quick!

A: I had my wedding cake home made as well (just recently!) The design I picked out was from a website like the one you provided, and I just made alterations suiting my needs. Even though the one you initially picked has fondant, you can always alter that. The cake design I chose had fondant as well, but there’s a trick to make a “fake fondant” type of look. Use decorative icing to ice your cake. Once the icing has crusted just a little bit (about 5 mins or so), lay a paper towel down and rub gently in a circular motion. This will smooth the icing out completely, and while it won’t have the flat thick look of fondant, it will definitely give more professional appeal to your cake.

Q: will a wal mart or brookshires bakery make a wedding cake from a design that is not their own?
I am wanting to buy a wedding cake design book but more than likely im going to either walmarts or brookshires bakery to actually get it made for when i renew my vows next halloween.Ive looked through their designs and didnt think like the look of them with my colors of black and purple.Or is it much more expensive just to find someone who makes them on their own?

A: Wal-Mart will not do custom designs. Brookshires will only customize flowers/colors. You still have to get one of their designs. I would suggest looking at your local culinary school for a pastry student near graduation that would like a design to put in their portfolio.

As I’m planning my wedding I have found myself looking at books and online for different styles of wedding cakes. I started wondering what everyone else thinks looks nice on a wedding cake. Do you have any online that you particularly like? Or if you’re already married, what did yours look like? Would you go for a more traditional cake or a more unique looking one? Q: what kind of tool do you use to get the scrolls and other designs on the sides of the wedding cake?
Needing to know what to use to imprint the design of scrolls or whatever design on the sides of the wedding cake so it can be frosted on neatly and evenly spaced?

A: Use toothpicks as outline/guide for even spacing. You can just pull them out and cover the small dot with a little tap on the frosting.
