Q: “miss havisham’s” wedding cake ideas?
In my english class, our assignment is to create the horrendous looking cake spoken of in the novel “Great Expectations”. However, the cake still has to taste delicious. Does anyone have any ideas as to what kind of cake I could bake and how I could make it look disgusting and aged without sacrificing taste? I would like it to be a layer cake, since it is supposed to be a wedding cake. Thanks for all your help!!
A: I’ll go with my interpretation of horrendous to Miss Havisham in what I think is a great cake. Any off-kiltered layer cake, white frosting, how ever you can get it on, throw crushed Oreo’s over and around it, gummy worms sticking out, but the most important part of this cake……….. the top is the face of a clock, you pick the time. Just an Idea and an Interpretation of that part of the story.
Q: Does anyone have any wedding cake ideas?
Ok so I’m going for my cake tasting this weekend and still don’t have a good idea on how I want my cake to look I’ve looked everywhere. Anyone have any ideas? My colors will be yellow, silver and possibly hints of hot pink summer wedding in July. But I’m still debating if I want a colorful fun cake or if I want an all white cake white sugar flowers. Please help add pics if possible thanks!!
A: We plan on doing a topsy turvy wedding cake…
But, we are doing it in an aqua blue with orange ribbon going around it.

Here’s some other cute ones I found:

Q: I need help with a large wedding cake,ideas?
Our wedding will consist of 1,500 to 2,000 guests. I want a simple and elegant cake.
Where would I find something like this or who can make a cake this big?
It’s a very big wedding!
A: You’ll probably have a large cake at the reception with a bunch of full sheet cakes in the back to serve from also.
A cake that large will be enormous and very heavy to move/transport.
Your best bet is to go to a local cake shop and talk to them about it.
Or, have your wedding planner figure out these details.
Q: What are some wedding cake ideas?
I am going to get married in April of next year. I have no idea of what i want the wedding cake to look like. I want something different and unique. I would appreciate the help if I could get some ideas or good pictures. Thanks for everything.
The colors are lavendar and white. and should feed abot 25 to 50 people.
A: Hi. My suggestion would be….do you have a local bakery in mind? Why not go in to your local bakery….or a bakery where your wedding will take place and chat with them. Most will set up an appointment for a taste testing.
So….you could take a picture in, if you want, but they will have lots of pictures also from previous wedding cakes that they have done!
Do you want all white….and them some lavender flowers?

Or….here is another white one with some lavender colored scrolling:

Just search around using Google images and you will find lots! But, again, I would go in to the bakery you have in mind. They are more than willing to help and guide you.

A: I like both of these cake pictures – they incorporate your colors nicely:

Q: Dual Banded Wedding Cake Design – Any ideas?
I have to make a wedding cake that is two toned horizontally. Any ideas on how to get a clean line that doesnt bleed?
The client wants a buttercream cake
A: fondant
Q: Small wedding cake ideas?
I’m only going to have about 20 people at my wedding. I want to have a cake but most bakers are telling me that they make cakes for 30+. I’d like to save some money, too. The idea of a sheet cake or cupcakes makes me shudder. Any good ideas?
A: I’m sorry you’re going through this. Getting my wedding cake was such a hassle, too. I really hated my vendor but had to use them because of where we were having our reception.
Perhaps if you don’t go in requesting a “wedding cake” you’ll get better cooperation from the bakers in your area. They hear those words and get stuck in a rut: “these are our wedding cake options and this is what they cost — no deviations.”
I had 14 people at my wedding. I ordered a small two-tier stacked cake and it worked out great. The top layer was a 6″ round (chocolate) and the larger layer was an 8″ round (white). I think we were charged for 20 people. We didn’t get to choose the exact flavors and fillings that we wanted because the cake was so small, but as long as you stick with the basics, you should be fine. They did decorate it exactly how we wanted.
The web sites below have photos that you could bring with you to a bakery to demonstrate:

Q: Any wedding cake ideas?

Any ideas?(as far as icing, decorations on the cake, and the cake flavor goes)
AND does anyone know if Coldstones Creamery would make a wedding cake?
If so that would be pretty freakin awesome!
A: I work for an ice cream shop not coldstone and we do make ice cream wedding cakes. before you decide to go with them ask alot of questions. I’ve been doing this for 15 years and can make cakes look like a picture and if I can’t I let the customer know up front. Also they probably aren’t usually in the business of delivering and setting up wedding cakes. getting your cake very cold with the help of dry ice is the key to it all. But your photo opportunity time is still very limited. Have a pretty cake for pictures. Some bakeries have dummy (display)cakes made from styro-foam they might rent to you. Then keep your ice cream cakes in the freezer and cut them before serving. Have your caterer check with the ice cream cake place so they know how to temper the cake so it can easily be cut and not be glop.
Q: Wedding cake ideas?
I am getting married in May, and I am having a hard time finding the perfect cake. Any websites that show wedding cake pictures so I can get a few ideas?

Q: Grecian themed wedding cake ideas?
So I’m getting married in just a few short days and to cut cost on our wedding cake I’ve decided to just order 2 sheet cakes un-iced and decorate them myself at home. The problem is I don’t know how to decorate cakes! Our wedding is a Grecian theme and our colors are Gold, Green and Silver…any ideas for me?!?!
Thank you, Bethy B! I love the look of the last one you put up. Very simple, like us, and yet so beautiful
A: This is a great idea: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/194/523383830_572c05a587.jpg?v=0
You can pick up fondont (http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat3254&PRODID=prd29680) at a local craft store like AC Moore, Joanne Fabrics or Michaels. It’s really easy to roll out and cut into shapes like in the picture.
Or you could try piping on a design like this:
http://www.houseofanoria.com/Costume_Supplies/Ornate_Medieval-Trims/GreekKeyMetallic_Blk_Slv874.jpg
But it might be tough if you’ve never piped before. I would stick with fondont because its easier to work with.
This looks VERY simple, but lovely and it wouldnt be too hard to do:

For overal icing advice I recommend using the fondont. Just give the cakes a decent layer of regular icing, not too thick. Then roll out the fondont to about 1/4″ inch thick. Wet the back of the fondont and smooth the fondont over the cake wet side onto the iced cake. Cut off the excess fondont then decorate. You can die fondont different colors to match your theme. It sounds scary but I did 1 round cake at the beginning of my wedding planning to see how it turned out. It looked really nice and I had never done it before! Its kind of like playing with play dough, although fondont is thicker and harder. You could just use buttercream but its harder to make themed designs/shapes with a piping bag than it is with just cutting it out of fondont.
In the end I had to purchase the cake from my wedding venue, but I am no longer afraid to experiment with fondont. I hope it works out for you!
Q: Wedding cake?
Anyone have any recipes for wedding cake or any great ideas? My wedding is next week would like some advise. Thanks

Q: ideas for wedding cake toppers?
I’m planning a wedding and I want to find a leprechaun and a grizzly bear for cake toppers. It’s an inside joke. Any ideas?
A: Check out etsy.com. There are a ton of artists selling their crafts and will custom make things for you. The link below is to one that does school mascots, but I’m guessing she could easily make you what you want. You can email the artist and ask her questions. It’s not cheap (the one pictured is $100), but it will be a one of a kind keepsake.
