Q: Did or will you have a cake stand at your wedding?
I hadn’t even thought about it but seeing bridal magazines advertising wedding cake stands. I never noticed this before at weddings – thought they just set the cake directly on the table. Is this something you got? If so, were you glad you did because it looked nice in pictures or was it a waste of money?
A: Yes we did. It was a cascading cake stand and we purchase cascading candle holders to go with it. It was quite beautiful. A nice cake stand is very beautiful. Check with your cake baker to see if you can borrow one of theirs. You can also construct your own.
Q: HELP ME PLEASE! Do columned wedding cakes have a separator plate over and under each cake?
Does a plastic plate rest on the center then columns go up into another separator plate and they all balance on the way the columns insert into each other?
Is the rods that go through the cakes better and more sturdy?
Where is the cheapest place to get these tiered wedding cake stands?
A: Yes, you can use pillars with a plate on top and bottom for support, but then you have to support the plate that is on top of the cake also or it will squish and/or eventually collapse. You can also go with a much easier method of push in pillars; then you only need one plate on top to hold the next cake up. Check your local craft store, we have Michaels, Ben Franklins or even Wal mart has some cake supplies. Good Luck! I did Wedding Cakes for 15 years, and its not always a piece of Cake!
Q: Wedding cakes on separate cake stands?
I am looking for pictures of 3 or 4 wedding cakes on seprate cake stands. They will all be one layer square cakes, all differnt flavors. Any one seen this at a wedding before? Can you show me pictures?

Q: Where can I find a wedding cake stand like this?
Im trying to find a wedding cake stand with crystals hanging from it, much like the first one pictures on this link. http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/must-have-one-of-these-wedding-cakes/5ebfb8d119b304e8.html
Does anyone know where online or in store I can find one?
A: You’re probably going to have to make it yourself or at least give the strands of crystals/beads to the person making your cake. Just go to a craft store like Michael’s or even try the crafts section of Walmart for the strands of beads. Buy as many as you can, and order more online if you have to. You or the cake baker will simply glue the strands to a regular cake stand (which the baker will most likely provide).
Good luck!
Q: Would you use this project for wedding cake stand?
My grandmother has fine wedding china, and I was considering using them for this cake stand idea,
http://www.stylemepretty.com/2008/06/03/cake-stands/
Do you think this could be sturdy enough for a small 1-tier wedding cake? I was going to do 3 mini cakes (each enough for 12 servings) and sit them on these plates. Have you tried this? Did it work?
A: The problem is that the pieces need to be attached with epoxy, thus probably ruining the pieces for use separately afterwards.
Might be a better idea to pick up inexpensive pieces at a thrift store, etc. and then do them.

Q: Is it possible to make a chocolate wedding cake with blueberry syrupy filling and ganache icing?
I want to make my sister’s wedding cake and in one of my practice cakes I did a chocolate cake with a blueberry filling and chocolate ganache icing that was really tasty. If I try to make this a tiered cake will the ganache and syrup be to soggy to keep the cake standing?
A: As long as you have a good, solid support you should be okay. Be careful of overflows of filling when stacking. Also put some foil, parchment paper, something under the rims of the cakes when you do the ganache, that way you can remove it, leaving you a clean finish. Good Luck.
Q: Wedding Cake stand sizes?
okay, I’m new to this cake stand stuff. I’m making a wedding cake, 6in,8 in, 10 in. Do I need a cake stand 6in, 8in, 10 in or do they need to be bigger than the cakes? like 8 in, 10in, 12in? I am having a hard time finding a 6 in cake stand.
A: Get the size larger than the cake your looking for so 6″ would be 8″ and so on. You will need room for the icing, fondant, design, flowers, etc…
Q: Where can I find a Christmas wedding cake stand like this one?
Many people are trying to find a large sleigh-and-reindeer cake stand like the one on this page:
http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-themes/seasonal-themes/glorious-winter-favor-ideas/
No one seems to be able to track it down.
Obviously it would cost $$$ but I have no idea where to find it. It looks like something you’d buy from a floral supply shop, though. Any ideas?
Only big-budget glossies have the money to stage a set and send out a photographer. This is a stock photo. The article author doesn’t know anything about the photo.
A: It looks like 2 lenox or 2 high end porcelain deer which you could find at any high end china outlet during Christmas. The sleight is custom made to hold the cake. If you purchased the fancy deer, I am sure the cake maker will be able to find or make the base.
My baker had tons of different bases and things they would custom make for you…. like you said it’s all $$$$$

A: if you have a Micheals near by, they carry cake stands by the company Wilson.
Q: Wedding Cake?
My mom is making my wedding cake and we have the stand in the picture with the link. I love the cake shown in the picture… Does anyone know if it’s just ribbon (if that would work) or if there is some special frosting you have to use, or if you can buy special ribbon. Let me know.. I’m trying to figure out how I can get this to work! Thanks!
http://www.ecrater.com/8514/44a93b0a298de_8514n.jpg
if we use real ribbon, will the ribbon soak up the grease in the frosting and look spotty?
A: You can use regular fabric ribbon- the frosting makes it stick to the cake. They did it on Platinum Weddings the other day.
