Q: Kelis green wedding dress?
Anybody out there know were I can find pics of Kelis green wedding dress…I love it so much (& green is my favorite color besides pink)…I want to see the design of the dress and how it actually look from top to bottom….not just half of it like the other pics I have seen of it…..and there gold wedding cake was just absolutely beautiful….she went all out with her wedding and it was so unique from the typical boring all white wedding dresses that we are expected to wear all the time

A: Here is a link to a website that has their wedding information on it. http://www.lovetripper.com/bridalstars/vendors/kelis-nas.html

I would first try to contact the designer of the gown to see if they would send you some pictures of it (they may not though)

If that doesnt work, I would contact her wedding coordinator to see if she has any pictures of the dress that she could share with you (you will probably have better luck there)

On that same site is a link to a more detailed information of their wedding with a detail of the dress, maybe you could take that to a dress maker and see if they could try and recreate it from the description.

Q: Edible grass for wedding cake?
I’m going with a green-themed wedding, and I thought it would be awesome if my cake were a simple white cake with the sides entirely covered in grass. I saw something sort of like this in a magazine once, and I can’t remember where. They had used something that looks very similar to grass, but that is edible. Any ideas? Doesn’t have to taste great along with the cake, but just be safe for ingestion
I think what they had used on the one in the magazine was the leaves from some kind of flower that looked very similar to grass. This is more along the lines of what I was looking for. I had thought about the wheatgrass and lemon grass, but I know that humans are not supposed to eat the grass straight up, without it being powdered or juiced.

A: I have made a few with ‘grass’, and yes, you can use the coconut and color it, however, I understand your desire to “Go Green”.

One of the most creative I’ve seen was surrounded with Wheat grass (lemon grass would work as stated by some answers) and covered in edible flowers (see: http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm for a list of flowers you can use). There’s a plethora of them and you can coordinate your cake with you wedding colors. This is just one option, but that way your cake is in theme and you can also not fear the flavor of your cake…..

I managed to find a pic “similar” to the one I was thinking of…… but think about it in a layered cake form with wheat grass on different tiers.

and BTW, Congrats on the upcoming wedding. May you have a long and happy, loving life together.

Q: Can you help me find a picture of a wedding cake with scrollwork?
I have this cake that I am picturing in my head, but I am having trouble finding pictures of it to show my cake baker! I want it to be white with sage green scrollwork, with icing pearls around the base of each tier. Unfortunately I have only been able to find pictures of a couple of cakes with the kind of scrollwork that I’m picturing. Does anyone know good places to look for wedding cake pictures and/or know of any good pictures with scrollwork?
Thanks!

A: Congratulations on your wedding. I hope these help…

Q: Wedding cake cracked?
My cousin just got married and she and I are using the same reputable cake vendor. When I saw it at the wedding I noticed that everywhere where the fondant was formed over the sides of the cake had cracked! Her fondant was dyed green and mine will be white so the cake maker says that the green dye is what made it crack. Have you guys ever seen this happen on white cakes? Is there anything to be done about it or just cross my fingers?

Thanks
No time to find a new cake place as I’m getting married on Aug. 15. this place has been around since 1993 and say that they are the largest provider of wedding cakes in the region.
Ok so now I dont have time to get another cake place. She said I could come by the day before and she would have the cake ready for us to see by 9:00am. Do you think I should ask her to make it later or what?
Thanks for all of the info! I have just emailed her and I’ll post a new question when I get a response from her.

A: Okay so I know we have had our little “dispute” but I actually do bake cakes as a hobby and I would suggest finding a different cake place. The dye has absolutely nothing to do with the cracking… the fondant dried out. Which means it was left out for too long. They must not have stored it correctly. What he meant by “It won’t do it on your cake since yours is white” is “your cake is white so it won’t show as much”. This place is obviously not very experienced with fondant.

Edit: Is there anyway you can switch to buttercream and skip fondant? By the way… it is do able to find a baker last minute! They can have up to 2 days and sometimes pull it off!

Edit: THEY SAID WHAAAATT???? If they are going to have you wedding cake ready THE DAY BEFORE at 9am… that means that they made the cake the DAY BEFORE THAT which means your cake was made 2 days before! Do you really want a cake 2 days old? That is entirely TOO LONG for fondant to sit on a cake! They should be laying the fondant on no more than 24 hours before. It sounds like they may have TOO much business so they have to make everyones cakes DAYS before the event. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO FIND A DIFFERENT PLACE!! YOU CAN DO IT!

Q: What filling for a wedding cake with cherry blossom decorations?
I am making a cake for a cake decorating contest.
We’re to make a double layer, 8″, round cake.I’ve decided to make the top layer of my dream wedding cake. I will oneday (hopefully) make my own cake and will use this as a bit of practice.

I will be using a white cake flavored with almond extract. I want to use some sort of filling, but not sure what to use.

I’m not sure if the cake will be jade green (to continue the asian theme) or will be slightly off-white. The flowers will be whitish-pink to a light hot pink. They will be sprays of cherry blossoms.

Here are my inspiration cake designs: http://www.perfect-wedding-day.com/cherry-blossom-cake.html

Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion!

A: We had a cherry blossom theme cake, but our cake was chocolate ganache with a raspberry filling:

I think raspberry would be perfect with white cake, too. If you are looking for something extra special, cherry blossom flavor is used in lots of sweets in Japan (cake flavoring, icing, jam, fillings, etc). Maybe you can find something online. Like this:

Q: is it really corny to have a florida (key west) themed wedding outside in massachusetts in june?

A: I love the idea. Check out this site, maybe you can get a few ideas =) I saw a cake that was beautiful!

Q: Strawberry Blossom Wedding Cake Picture?
I need help.
My sister is getting married soon and she has a strawberry theme. She found a picture of a round three tier wedding cake with white frosting or fondant and red and green strawberry blossoms. It wasnt that cute but she fell in love with it. Her friend that was going to make it fell through so she had a change it to something simple.

I would love to surprise her with that cake but I cannot for the life of me find a picture of it. Does anyone know where I can find it?:

It would mean the world to me if you could help me.
Thanks so much

Q: Green and Brown wedding reception…creativity block?
Country Wedding: Western mixed with old style country.
Green apples, white daisies… maybe white snap dragons or a green spray.
mason jars for vases
brown table cloth?
thought about wrapping mason jars in paper bag material and topping off with a small green gingham ribbon?…
this is where im stuck. The cake has brown ribbon going around each white layer. anything to put around it to pull the green?
WHITE, GREEN, and BROWN. any suggestions, ideas, or experience would help. Thanks!

A: I LOVE green apples as decor, they’re cute and bright.
Jars for vases will work, but I wouldn’t wrap them in paper. It reminds me of moonshine when I see a jar wrapped in paper. Use gingham, hemp or that ribbon that looks like grass (the name escapes me at the moment but I know I have a drawer full of it somewhere).
You can also make tin can lanterns, which are super cute. Start saving up tin cans, paint them whatever color you’d like, and punch holes in them with a finishing nail. Add tea light and voila. http://loganbibby.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/garden-lanterns.jpg
As for the cake…add a green flower to add a little pop. You can also use candied pears or something of the like. http://www.bvweddings.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/green-and-brown-wedding-cake.jpg
http://www.lecakery.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/images/Round_Tier_Green_Brown_Ribbon.331222235_large.jpg
Cute table toppers would be rustic-looking lanterns, etc. http://www.weddingstyle.ca/Favor%20Western%20Mini%20Lantern.JPG
If you’re into ranching at all, silver horseshoe favors would be cute (or horseshoe jewelry for the bridesmaids).

Q: My Wedding Cake : Opinions & Advice?
We are having a chocolate cake made for us by a girl at work for our wedding. She’s a baker, not a decorator, so she’s in a pinch. Its to be chocolate and more chocolate, with chocolate ganache layers inside and chocolate frosting outside. (You’d expect it to be insanely sweet, but its not.) Anyways, its a holiday themed wedding, working with Apple Red, white, and Hunter Green. We are using pinecones to tie in the brown of the cake, perhaps with “snow” tips. Its a three layer. How would you suggest I have her decorate it? We aren’t coming up with any good ideas.
The cake topper is an engraved acyrlic square (one of those ones that look engraved inside) with our names and the date.

mschristine-i love your ideas!

A: I’d go with a very basic white chocolate frosting and have a ring of mistletoe or pointsettias around the base of the cake. Or evergreen boughs with pinecones around the base and mistletoe as part of the decoration on each layer. Perhaps she could make pointsettias out of red-dyed frosting, which would be very striking. Congratulations and best wishes!

Q: What do you think of my wedding cake so far?
We are getting our cake from Publix.

http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/ProductDetail.do?id=144

we are not having those gum paste flowers. instead we are having icing flowers in red and white for our wedding colors. and i guess they will also do the leaves in green icing

I cant decide between these 2 cake toppers

and this one

the groom is not really picky :) he just thinks either would look nice.

and Nicole M i love the first cake topper with the dancig couple. its so cute!

A: I love the second cake topper the best and I like the cake.

Q: Cupcake Wedding cake… Daisies??! Ideas Help!!!?
So I’m going with a gerber daisy theme. Red and White daisies.. with clover green dresses.. i want to do a cupcake wedding cake.. but I want to do something simple.. yet elegant.. anyone with ideas send them my way!! Pictures would be awesome! Thanks in advance!!
I’d like to go a little bit of a cheaper route.. thats why i’m looking at cupcakes.. and I’m looking at about 125 guests.

A: That sounds beautiful!
Have you considered just very plain white cake cupcakes with flowers on top? (real daises)
My cake was a plain very traditional tiered cake with real red roses and daisies as decoration.

Q: Wedding cake fondant flowers??
What are some easy to make fondant flowers for a wedding cake??

Could you please provide a video, pictures or instructions to show me

I was thinking along the lines of spring flowers but if that is not possible then any flowers

maybe…
Calla Lilies
Tulips
Roses

etc

I am doing a modern wedding cake that is…
2 tiers
Madeira cake (lemon)
Covered in fondant icing, strips of white and different shades of green on the bottom layer and then different shades of green circles on a white background on the top layer

i am at a loss of to what to put on the top, what would you suggest

thanks

A: Use a cake topper at the top of the cake. This way you don’t have to do anything to intricate at the top. Just look at different wedding cakes/bakery websites and try to find a design you like…or several designs that you can mesh together.
Here is what I was able to find in regards to making the fondant flowers:

Q: Wedding Cake Table Background Ideas….?
Our reception hall has plain light yellow walls, and we want our wedding cake to be the focal point. Our wedding planer suggested putting it in the center of the room under an arch covered in a real pretty vine, white a few white flowers on the top of the arch. (at the ceremony we are using white flowers w/ green accents)

I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions or have seen different things that sticks out in your mind, like creating a fabric or wood backdrop, or something.

Our colors are black, sage/kiwi, and white. And the room will be dimly lighted w/ a few chandeliers on and some uplights along the walls. It’s a night reception. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Saundra – yes my mom and i both can sew – I thought about taking black fabric about 4 ft wide and dropping it straight from the ceiling to the floor. And putting our logo in kiwi green on it. I just haven’t seen this done before. Has anyone else?

A: kk – thanks for posting my site! Those were some of my favorite weddings and backdrops for cakes.

Most of the time I do suggest my clients to put their wedding cakes in the middle of the room (it’s the most expensive cake you’ll ever buy….why stick it in the corner?).

However in some instances, it’s not possible but we always try to create a focal point for it. EVERYONE talks about the cake the next day whether they eat it or not.

Suggestions: rent a small stage to elevate the cake (make sure there is enough room for you and the groom to stand on the stage to cut it). Be sure to skirt the legs at the bottom.

Use pin spots on the cake or look at your reception hall to see if they have lights that can point on the cake. Talk to your DJ maybe?

I’m personally not a fan of tulle. Or lattice. Go to WalMart or a fabric store and buy sheer fabric to use instead of tulle.

I love ribbon….create a ribbon backdrop. Be careful though; this idea can be deceivingly expensive…watch your costs on ribbon.

Use stands that can stretch fabric across…can you sew? This is a backdrop idea.

One thing that photographers like is something behind you when they take a picture…..that’s why sometimes the cake in the middle is not your best option. It just depends on the room!

Good luck! saundra

Q: I need ideas for a wedding card holder (to hold cards the guests bring).?
I would like to make a wedding card holder but don’t have any ideas. I’ve heard of using picture frames to make a “box” but have no idea how to go about putting it together. I’ve also seen pictures of hat boxes put together to look like a wedding cake-but that’s not really the style I’m going for. I would like something a little classier. The colors are black, green, and white. I do some rubber stamping-so something “crafty” might work. ANY ideas would be appreciated!!

A: try that link

Q: My Redneck Wedding Ideas?
First off, all rednecks are not stupid, my husband-to-be is going to college to become a rad technician and I am a pharmacy technician. My fiance and I also have a very fun personality and are looking for fun ideas. Okay, here is the load down, I grew up on a farm with my family. I am a tomboy and this marriage stuff is starting to get on my nerves. Everyone is different and has different ideas, so even though some people think that must redneck weddings are gross and stupid, I do not. Every wedding is beautiful to me, wether you were raised in the city or in the country or even in between, everyone has their own unique style. Also, please do not post any rude comments if you think redneck or country weddings are stupid and not beautiful.

Hello, my name is Terra and my fiance’s name is Ryan. We are getting married on May 15th 2009 at 7:30 P.M. Our wedding will be taking place outside. My ideas for the ceremony are:

Theme: John Deere/Country
Colors: Green, yellow and white
Flowers: Sunflowers and cat tails (a type of plant)

I will be drove in by my daddy on his John Deere tractor and will be helped off the tractor by him also. (Wouldn’t it be funny if I fell!)

The maid of honor and brides maids will be wearing green dresses with white sashes. The best man and groomsmen will be wearing green button up shirts and blue jeans. The groom will wear a white button up shirt with blue jeans. I will be wearing a white wedding gown.

Guest will sit on square bails and the end piece will be a bouquet of sunflowers, cat tails and a small string of rope to tie them together.

The arch will be wooden with sunflowers and ribbon hanging from it.

My bouquet and the brides maids bouquets will also be sunflowers.

After we kiss, we will drive off in the tractor that I arrived on.

After the ceremony (reception) :
The reception will be held at my fiance’s church.

The tables will have a white table cloth with a smaller green table cloth on top. The center piece will be sunflowers and cat tails. Also, the napkins will be yellow.

We will be eating BBQ, greens and cornbread (a lot of southern food).

!?! Ok here is where I need help !?!
My wedding song when I walk down the aisle?
Our exit song when the ceremony is over?
First dance song (something short because neither I or my fiance can dance!)
Wedding cake ideas for the groom and bride?
Fun photography poses?
Entertainment: music, games and such for the reception?

A: Sounds fun. You have to incorporate the song “She thinks my tractor’s sexy in there somewhere”. How about for the exit song when the ceremony is over. A cute first dance song would be “Yes” (Brad Paisley and Chad Brock both do a version of it). It isn’t that short but have the guests join in right as you guys start dancing. Cakes can be in so many different shapes and stuff. I think it would be cute to get a cake shaped like a tractor with a bride and groom in it. Talk to a baker about doing something like that and they’ll make it happen. Again, a funny photo op would be you two driving into the sunset on a tractor. For a fun activity, have a hay ride, this would also be great for photos. Maybe do something fun like square dancing lessons to country music and hire a country band to play at the wedding. Something really cheesy would to have an auction for funny things like the centerpeices or dances with the bride and groom.
