Q: Ideas for a pink, black, and white wedding cake?
Okay, sooo… just one week ago exactly, my fiance of 2 years and I decided we wanted to get married soon because we keep waiting for the perfect time and it just never seemed to happen. So, the wedding is June 23. So, I need some ideas quick like. haha. Okay, I want my colors to be pink, black, and white, and I’ve been searching the web forever looking for ideas for a pink, black, and white cake. Found some that were okay, but I’m not a frilly type of gal… and all the cakes seemed to be all flowers and ribbons. Not into that sort of thing. Sooo, if any of you have any ideas, links, or could be any help at all… PLEASE help. haha I’m on a veryyy tight timeline… and I’m going nuts trying to find something I like. I want a sort of hot pink, something that will stand out. Nothing too pastel. Anyway, Thanks in advance! :)

A: Go visit a few bakeries and discuss with them your ideas. Any bakery worth it’s salt would be able to give you a cake of your dreams. You could do cakes decorated like presents, or you could have one polka-dot and one stripped, something like that would be very cute. I bet they will have some cute ideas, too. Good luck, your color scheme sounds great, I hope you find what you are looking for! Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.

Q: Flower arrangement ideas for a pink/white themed wedding
I will be making my own arrangements and desprately need some ideas. Its a pink/ white wedding theme. The table cloths are white w/ pink runners and black chairs w/pink sashes. I have pink and white paper lanterns and a pink cherry blossom cake–kinda going for an SLIGHT asian theme. I want to also add sme color so I dont overdo it with the pink and white but I have NO IDEA what colors would look nice and compliment the scenary.

The vases my FIL bought are just simple textured clear vases. Fat at the bottle and skinny at the top.

Here’s the closest pic I could find. Yea, boring.

A: Pink chrysanthemums. They have a center with a little black in them and are very asian.

Q: Wedding Cake?
I’m planning a summer wedding with many vibrant summer colours like yellow, dark pink, light pink and purple.

Both me and my fiance are not huge fans of cake, but we both love strawberry shortcake (like the fluffy angel cake, strawberries and whip cream).

Any suggestions for how to decorate a cake like that? More than likely I’ll be the one making it. I have in mind a three tier white, maybe pink wedding cake with either a vast assortment of fruit or flowers to decorate it with. Any ideas?

A: DO NOT make your own wedding cake. As the bride you have plenty to do without adding your cake to the list. Trust me honey, I’ve seen it done and it always turns out a disaster. Instead, enlist the help of family or a friend to make the cake for you.

Since it’s strawberry shortcake what if you set up an interactive bar where guests were given their individual cakes then could load up on their choice of berries, whipped cream, or sauces. Besides strawberries you could offer blueberries, blackberries, raspberry, etc.

Otherwise you could easily do angel food cake layered and iced with the whipped cream just like if you had buttercream with fresh fruit as your decor. On each table you can put a gravy boat with strawberry sauce or even chocolate for guests who want some extra flavoring.

It doesn’t even have to be cake. Pies, cheesecake, icecream sundae bar, brownies, a large stack of cookies. I even saw a wedding where they put individual servings if tiramisu in martini glasses and made a tower….it looked really awesome.

Q: Does anyone have any wedding cake ideas?
Ok so I’m going for my cake tasting this weekend and still don’t have a good idea on how I want my cake to look I’ve looked everywhere. Anyone have any ideas? My colors will be yellow, silver and possibly hints of hot pink summer wedding in July. But I’m still debating if I want a colorful fun cake or if I want an all white cake white sugar flowers. Please help add pics if possible thanks!!

A: We plan on doing a topsy turvy wedding cake…

But, we are doing it in an aqua blue with orange ribbon going around it.

Here’s a cute one in all white :)

Q: Can you buy edible diamonds for a wedding cake?
Hey guys!

My theme for my wedding is diamonds and chocolate. Im doing chocolate brown, white and light pink accents, and I want diamonds on everything.

I found a great wedding cake that I want, and I would LOVE to have some kinda of diamonds on it, but I don’t know how to work that into it. Any ideas?
Do you know if I can get some kind of edible diamonds, or how to get somethin that looks like diamonds?

A: Sugar can make crystals that look like diamonds.

Q: What do you think of my wedding cake? What colors would you do?
The link below is my wedding cake… my colors are pink and brown. I wanted to do all the white- brown with 2 different pink accents like shown. My fiance wants to leave the base white and just make one of the pinks the brown. I think he’s just stuck on the wedding cakes are suppose to be white idea. Which one do you perfer and why?

http://www.sweetmemoriesbakery.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=2&pos=83

It’s the first one in the album pink and white.

And we are having a fall wedding.
Making sure you understand me- I want the base of the cake to be brown…
My fiance wants the base white.
Cake is 84/92 if you can’t see the one I am talking about.
YES- LOL- it will be chocolate buttercream and chocolate fundont.

I like it busy, it’s the Mad Hatter cake!!

A: I ADORE IT! It would be great either way, but I think the brown and pink would be cuter. maybe it is that he’s just stuck on white cakes, I understand, for me to get black polka dots on mine was a fight for a year, but I got them in the end and everyone loved it! for compromise, you could do mostly pink and brown, but instead of 2 shade of pink, you could accent with white so he gets some of his way, but its mostly yours b/c I totaly agree that your ways better!

Q: Does my wedding cake have to be same colors and flower design as my flowers.?
For my wedding flowers I am having white roses, blue delphinium, pink spray roses and possibly black eyed susans. The cake design I chose is just a round 2 teired (only 60 guests) white cake with blue rose buttercream flowers around the cake and on top of the cake as a cake topper. I didn’t want to use pink, just blue and white. But the flower design is not exact (blue buttercream icing roses). In my bouquet there will be white roses and blue delphinium. I have been wondering if the type of flower has to match exactly and the blue color may not match perfectly. I don’t want fresh flowers on my cake either. This may seem like a really silly detail to obsess over but I want it to look nice. Am I turning into bridezilla or what!!!! Any opinions would be welcome.

A: First of all, no, you are not a bridezilla. I watch the show (it’s my Sunday night amusement) and until you start stomping around here and throwing out the f-bombs, you are not a bridezilla!

First, as question or two. Are you set on blue roses? Is your cake decorator talented enough to do something more than roses?

I think it is great that you have chosen one of the colors. I was recently to a wedding where they had all the floral colors on the cake. It was just too busy and did not look good. Perhaps if the shades had been the same as the flower itself, but instead they were as bright as you could get and gawdy. (Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow)

If your decorator can do it, would it be possible to have the cake decorated with sprays of buttercream delphiniums? I have a picture of what that would look like in my mind, but the closest I could find would be similar to this picture:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/105/299279735_8b04997f5f_o.jpg

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/yhst-7919480820973/cherry-blossom-wedding-cake.JPG

(Imaging Delphinium sprays instead of the flowers shown.)

I think the only difference in doing something like those included above is that they use a rolled sugar fondant instead of buttercream because it gives it more stability.

Either way, do what you want! It is your wedding, you only get to do it once, and you are the one that will regret it if it isn’t done your way!

Good luck and Congrats! :-)

Q: What kind of wedding cake?
We need to pick out the design for our cake. I just want a plain vanilla cake, but I want it to be simple, but really pretty. We want to have pillars in the cake, and the colors of the wedding are pink, black, and white. Any ideas of how it should be decorated?

Q: Wedding Color Disagreement?
My fiance and I are planning a 2009 wedding. But we are having a disagreement on the wedding colors. So we both decided to let you all decide.

I want a black, pink, and white wedding. I want my wedding cake to look like this http://www.wilton.com/idea/Romantic-Roses but with black and pink flowers. I want my brides maids to wear black dresses and have pink flowers.

He doesn’t think black is appropriate for a wedding and just wants the colors to be pink and white. But he likes the cake minus the black flowers of course. And he thinks my brides maids should wear white dresses. Which I absolutely vetoed since I am the bride and I should be the only one in white.

So it’s up to you all because I don’t know what to do. Do you like my idea for a black, pink and white wedding. Or his idea for a pink and white wedding?
Thanks

A: Tell him that he is definately wrong that the bridesmaids should be in white! That is a no-no!
I think that black would be very pretty! It is no longer bad to wear black to a wedding. Especially if it has a lighter accent color such as pink! Very pretty! And elegant.
I like your idea! A lot!

Q: I’m looking a wedding cake that has words written on it, Words of love and romance.?
I’m getting married next year, and I’ve had this cake in my head forever. It’s just a plain white fondant cake, but it had words, like “live, laugh, love” and other words like that written on it. I was going to have the white fondant cake, but have a dark/bright pink lettering since my colors are white, black and azalea (like a fushia color). Someone please help!

A: Here are a few examples I was able to find. Don’t know if it is exactly what you are looking for, but it may be a start:

Q: What filling for a wedding cake with cherry blossom decorations?
I am making a cake for a cake decorating contest.
We’re to make a double layer, 8″, round cake.I’ve decided to make the top layer of my dream wedding cake. I will oneday (hopefully) make my own cake and will use this as a bit of practice.

I will be using a white cake flavored with almond extract. I want to use some sort of filling, but not sure what to use.

I’m not sure if the cake will be jade green (to continue the asian theme) or will be slightly off-white. The flowers will be whitish-pink to a light hot pink. They will be sprays of cherry blossoms.

Here are my inspiration cake designs: http://www.perfect-wedding-day.com/cherry-blossom-cake.html

Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion!

A: We had a cherry blossom theme cake, but our cake was chocolate ganache with a raspberry filling:

_134

I think raspberry would be perfect with white cake, too. If you are looking for something extra special, cherry blossom flavor is used in lots of sweets in Japan (cake flavoring, icing, jam, fillings, etc). Maybe you can find something online. Like this:

Q: The smooth texture of a profesionally done wedding cake..is there a way to ge the same texture on a homemade?
I am making 13 small wedding cakes for my moms casual wedding. To be placed on tables.

I was just wondering if there was a way to get the same smooth texture on a pro done wedding cake , on a homemade wedding cake?

I’ve heard some people “melt” the icing and mixing butter and a little milk in and then pouring that over the cake…it turned out ok…but I am kind of scared to try that lol…

Any ideas or tips?

Also…what are some cake decorationg ideas?

White, Lemon, and pink is sort of the theme…

Should we make each cake different or the same?

Sigh..This is hard!

Thanks for all the help!

A: http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fondant

otherwise, I would suggest what others have suggested.

here’s what I think you should get, and you can get it at a cooking or large craft store (like michael’s) or you can even order them online:

1.) a large frosting spatula. it will look like a long knife without a sharp edge.
2.) a plastic pastry bag. this is for decorating. you will also want to get decorating tips to match what kind of designs you want to create (shell border, roses, etc.) usually on the box it shows what kind of designs you can make. you can get a small stand to make designs on (like roses) but it’s not necessary, and it may end up being more difficult for you anyway. I would practice for a while on a sheet of paper with the pastry bag before you use it on the actual cakes, so you can get a hang of it. it’s pretty easy once you learn how to use it.
3.) a decorating comb, icing triangle, or icing sculptor. these are all basically the same thing – they give a texture to the icing, usually lines that run around the circumference of the cake, like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000VMEGM
4.) if you’re using fondant, you might want to invest in a textured rolling pin for your fondant. this will give it a texture, like this: http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/gumpaste/FMM/rollingpins.htm (scroll down to see everything) these give a very professional look to a cake.
5.) a cake leveler. this makes it so that the top of your cake is flat, which will be a big difference in how professional it looks.

as for whether you should make them the same, I would have around three designs you stuck with, and maybe one that’s special. that way, you have four of the same cake 3 times, which makes 12, and then one cake is special for the cake cutting. I don’t know how you should split up colors, but I would say the special cake should be all white.

Q: Black and white wedding?
My fiance and I are planning a black and white wedding. The more into this I get though, the more complicated it becomes. When I thought of flowers all white seemed too drab so I though about introducing a light pink accent color for flowers and maybe black bridesmaid dresses with which? white or pink sashes? i like whiteI cant figure out where the accent color should go asside from flowers. And is it okay for the groomms cake to be totally off color scheme? Like, his will probably be brown and red and that clashes so bad!

A: I LOVE black and white! Great choice. I am having a black and white wedding myself and I using red and silver as accent colors. Dresses are all black except for one bridesmaid who was just dying to have a two tone dress
( which was my original choice anyway). I am carrying a full bouquet of Charlotte red roses and the bm will carry white roses with stephanotis. I don’t think all white flowers will be too drab. It is very classic and you won’t look back on your wedding pics like what was I thinking?! I personally say stick with white sashes if you choose to do them. Your favors and dec in your reception decor is where you can add your color. If you do all black dresses though you could do a full colorful bouquet and that would pop beatifully against the black dresses if you really don’t want to do the white bouquets. Pink, orange, yellow and green flowers. I am sure it will be gorgeous! Congrats and have lots of memories!!!
