2. round or square white cake with gold netting and white flowers.

A: I really like both of them but if I had to chose, you said you were going to put gold embroidery on the first one instead of the red, so my vote will go for #1
Q: how much should i expect to pay for a wedding cake?
I don’t want anything too fancy, just a simple three tier cake with just white icing on (because i want to use flowers to decorate the cake myself) The filling will be probably chocolate or vanilla sponge. I was also wondering what you think about the shape of cakes. round or square??? thank you!
A: round cakes are cheaper but square cakes cut up better for serving.
either way, you can expect to pay about 200 to 300 for a 3 tier cake which can serve about 100 people.
the cake will be cheaper than a decorated cake but still the price of wedding cakes is based on the size of the cake and then the cost of decorating it is added.
be sure you go to several bakeries and ask for samples of their wedding cake and their frostings so you can get the one that tastes best to you.
Q: Try and imagine this for a wedding cake!?
A white 3 tier square cake, the ones where there on top of eachother not on seperate columns, with a cerise pink ribbon around each layer and the rest of the white bit all sort of lace effect? My bridesmaids are going to be wearing pink so i want the cake and flowers to match and am tryin to imagine up one, does any one like or dilike that idea and do they know any good cake web sites with pics on?
A: It sounds very pretty.
Here are some cake galleries if you want some inspiration. Remember if you like the style you can always have it done in whatever your colors are.

Q: Have you ever seen this cake?
I was watching Cake Boss, and Buddy was making this one cake that was a 3 tier squared wedding cake. The base was white and the stenciling and all the other stuff was a deep red. There was a stenciled design on each tier’s side. Ive been trying to find a picture of it and I cant. Does anyone know where i can find a picture of that same exact cake?
A: Go to The Learning Channel’s web site. You can look up and view any past episode you want.
Q: Need your advice to suprise my groom! Thank you
?
My groom is one of the most indecisive people alive…but I love him. He went with me for all of the cake tastings and after looking through photos was a huge help in picking out our 5 tier square white wedding cake. I am in love with what we chose. At the time I also paid her for an additional cake to be determined. That is the groom’s cake. I have struggled for the past 7 months to find something for him. At first I was trying to force him to pick something but now after him not deciding I have decided I want to surprise him. Have her make something super special. He will forget all about it…and be so surprised the day of the wedding. I have searched all over the internet but can’t come up with anything. So I am going to post his favorite things and hopefully some one is more creative than me or knows how to use the internet better than I do and can help me.
He LOVES: To play soccer and golf. He loves to watch basketball and football. He loves to water ski and his parents live on a lake where we are having our wedding. It is one of our favorite places. He Loves oreos. We both graduate from law school 3 months before our wedding. He is the biggest Kansas University Jayhawks fan. He doesn’t miss a game. I think those are all of his favorites! Thanks for your help
A: THis totally reminds me of the show about making cakes. there was an episode where the people had to talk to a bride and groom and all design a cake for them and the winner was chosen by the bride and groom.
Id go to the place your getting it from and talk to them. They make amazing cakes im sure and can incorporate some of his favorite things into it.
My boyfriend is huge on music and wants to have a fancy cake with music notes all around it in black. I love the idea. so maybe you could have on the top, golf balls and a club. THen maybe around the layers there could be waves and since he loves oreos you could have it be an oreo cake… like taste like oreos.
just ideas
Q: wedding cake costs for simple cake?
I want a very simple cake for about 100 guests. I am thinking of white cake with raspberry preserve filling. I want three tiers with each tier being square in shape and either covered in white fondant or buttercream icing. The only decoration will be gerber daisies.
can anyone give me a guesstimate as to what this will cost me?
The gerber daisies will definitely be real. I was also thinking of a band of color at the bottom of each tier. Maybe red?
A: Depends on where you live and how elaborate you would like it as far as getting it from a bakery.
For most bakeries they charge by the slice, and add on what ever decorations and flavors on top of the base price.
It can be cheaper if you have a friend or family member to make the cake, it would make it more special also.
Good Luck and your cake will be beautiful!
Q: How much did/will you pay for your wedding cake?
I was blessed to have a close childhood friend whose a professional cake decorator who did our cake. It served 200 people, 3 square tiers, raspberry filling and white chocolate buttercream icing. It had a row of lilies and orchids cascading down and around from the top to bottom. I remember there were lots of details like small silver beads (edible), swirls, swags in the icing. How much would I have paid for something like this?
The cake was free! My husband insisted on reimbursing her by giving her 15 personal training sessions.
A: This site is expensive.
But the average is about $2.50 per slice; then the filling (which is usually more) you’re talking upwards of $500.
Might be more considering where you live.
This was an AWESOME gift.

Q: How do I wrap a ribbon around fondant?
I am making a three layer , square wedding cake. The bride just wants it to be plain white fondant (which I can do) with a ribbon around each layer. I have tried to attach the ribbon in the past, but it never stayed close enough to the fondant, and I couldn’t figure out how to attach the ends.
A: Really easy…I’m a pastry chef……….
Just pull the ribbon snug without pulling too tight Fold one side under to cover raw edges and put over the other end. Secure with a pin that has a LARGE Pearl on the end (or something else having to do with the theme……) Make sure that SOMEONE knows to take this off before cutting the cake!
Q: Wedding cake – Is $468 reasonable with no decoration for 50 guests?
The restaurant I’m using for my ceremony & reception has an approved vendor list. I went to my cake tasting yesterday and it was fabulous! But, I’m asking for a very simple cake for 50 people. It will be 3 tiers. One 12″ square, one 8″ square and one 6″ round on top. It will be white cake with raspberry bavarian filling and the outside will be white chocolate fondant with a butter cream layer underneath. The only thing I’ve asked to be added are the “dot” edge details.
My florist will be decorating the cake himself with bombay orchids at the ceremony location since he’ll be there decorating anyway but I have to pay $75 extra for that (on top of $1000 in flowers already)
My price came to $468 with no details. Although they will deliver it for free and it will be added to my reception bill. Also, I won’t have any cake cutting fees for using that specific bakery. If I go with another bakery, I will have to pay $2 cutting fee per person to the restaurant.
She did say I would have leftovers and it would feed more like 72 people.
A: Yes it is reasonable. First you have a specialty filling. Then you have fondant which can be difficult to work with and is expensive. White chocolate fondant is the most expensive. It will probably cost the bakery nearly $100 or more just to purchase the fondant. Then there is all of the work in making, covering the cakes, stacking and supporting them, etc. If you are having “dot” edge details. Are the dots made of fondant? If so that will also take quite some labor to make. If you go to another bakery they will probably charge you the same amount or more plus you will have that $2 cutting fee pp. A cake of that size serves about 75 people (not including the top tier which you take home)I think the bakery is giving you more than a fair price actually. If you base it on 75 people it is $6.25 per serving (it would probably be closer to $4.00 per serving if you didn’t have white chocolate fondant). If you base it on the whole cake top layer included it is for about 90 people and then it is $5.20 per serving. You have to base the servings on how many people the cake can feed – not how many you are inviting to the party. It’s not a bad deal actually.
If you need to save money
1 – don’t order such a large cake if you don’t need to.
2. Go with buttercream or regular fondant instead of white chocolate fondant
3. Don’t use real orchids on the cake. Find a different flower or see what the bakery can do for you.
Q: which would look better for a wedding cake?
Need to use a bit of imagination, we are doing a cupcake wedding cake, we really like the idea and have not found any other cakes we like. We have narrowed it down to two options.
Option 1: Traditional cupcakes with white swirl icing, not as many sprinkles as this and no candle, http://www.mycupcakerecipes.com/cupcakes/cupcake-recipes.jpg
in these liners http://www.bakerscups.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_15&products_id=89
these liners are the exact shade of my shoes and the grooms pocket square
or
Option 2 http://www.ladyscreations.net/cupcakes_040_Large_Web_view.jpg
with a lighter purple and darker sprinkles that match the shoes and pocket square in white liners
to be displayed on something like this http://www.weddingcupcakes.org/images/wedding_cupcake_stand.jpg and we may make a matching mini cake to actually do the traditional cutting of the cake for the bride and groom for the top
thanks.
Diana – I just had one of those wow I never thought of that moments lol thank you! I like the idea of using the liners with both purple and white icing swirls,
should they alternate by colored tier like one all purple, the next all white, or should the colors alternate on each tier?
The wedding is elegant with some fun twists, hard to describe without going into massive details
I think its going to be a very fun night but nothing outrageously outgoing, if that makes any sense
A: I was at a wedding that did this and they did a couple different kinds of icing which I thought looked very nice, but the also did different kinds of cupcakes(btw I really like the purple icing). They had vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and marbled. I liked that because then everyone got to pick what they wanted. Just a thought
Hope this helps, And Congratulations!!
Q: What was you wedding cake like?
While I’ve been planning my own wedding, I’ve started to wonder what everyone else’s cake looked like? Or what you want your future cake to be like? What flavors did you use? The cake that we are planning is going to be 4 square layers with white frosting (or possibly fondant…) seperated by pink, yellow, and white roses with lace and pearl designs. We’re planning on the each layer being a different flavor, spice, chocolate with rasberry filling, white with lemon filling and red velvet.
It will be similar to this one. (not exactly obviously, but this is the picture that I showed the designer.)

If anyone has any photos of theirs of of their dream cake please post them, I’d love to see them! Thank you!
A: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31726502&l=212a6&id=41301686
Here’s a picture of mine; it was delicious! The bottom layer was almond poppyseed with raspberry filling and the top two layers were italian cream cake with apricot-pineapple-rum filling. Cream cheese frosting. There was also a german chocolate groom’s cake that was a hit.
The cake you chose is beautiful! Beware of fondant icing- it is basically crisco and sugar and it tastes pretty awful.
White with lemon sounds so yummy as does red velvet. I wish I would have thought of the red velvet.
Q: My Redneck Wedding Ideas?
First off, all rednecks are not stupid, my husband-to-be is going to college to become a rad technician and I am a pharmacy technician. My fiance and I also have a very fun personality and are looking for fun ideas. Okay, here is the load down, I grew up on a farm with my family. I am a tomboy and this marriage stuff is starting to get on my nerves. Everyone is different and has different ideas, so even though some people think that must redneck weddings are gross and stupid, I do not. Every wedding is beautiful to me, wether you were raised in the city or in the country or even in between, everyone has their own unique style. Also, please do not post any rude comments if you think redneck or country weddings are stupid and not beautiful.
Hello, my name is Terra and my fiance’s name is Ryan. We are getting married on May 15th 2009 at 7:30 P.M. Our wedding will be taking place outside. My ideas for the ceremony are:
Theme: John Deere/Country
Colors: Green, yellow and white
Flowers: Sunflowers and cat tails (a type of plant)
I will be drove in by my daddy on his John Deere tractor and will be helped off the tractor by him also. (Wouldn’t it be funny if I fell!)
The maid of honor and brides maids will be wearing green dresses with white sashes. The best man and groomsmen will be wearing green button up shirts and blue jeans. The groom will wear a white button up shirt with blue jeans. I will be wearing a white wedding gown.
Guest will sit on square bails and the end piece will be a bouquet of sunflowers, cat tails and a small string of rope to tie them together.
The arch will be wooden with sunflowers and ribbon hanging from it.
My bouquet and the brides maids bouquets will also be sunflowers.
After we kiss, we will drive off in the tractor that I arrived on.
After the ceremony (reception) :
The reception will be held at my fiance’s church.
The tables will have a white table cloth with a smaller green table cloth on top. The center piece will be sunflowers and cat tails. Also, the napkins will be yellow.
We will be eating BBQ, greens and cornbread (a lot of southern food).
!?! Ok here is where I need help !?!
My wedding song when I walk down the aisle?
Our exit song when the ceremony is over?
First dance song (something short because neither I or my fiance can dance!)
Wedding cake ideas for the groom and bride?
Fun photography poses?
Entertainment: music, games and such for the reception?
A: Sounds fun. You have to incorporate the song “She thinks my tractor’s sexy in there somewhere”. How about for the exit song when the ceremony is over. A cute first dance song would be “Yes” (Brad Paisley and Chad Brock both do a version of it). It isn’t that short but have the guests join in right as you guys start dancing. Cakes can be in so many different shapes and stuff. I think it would be cute to get a cake shaped like a tractor with a bride and groom in it. Talk to a baker about doing something like that and they’ll make it happen. Again, a funny photo op would be you two driving into the sunset on a tractor. For a fun activity, have a hay ride, this would also be great for photos. Maybe do something fun like square dancing lessons to country music and hire a country band to play at the wedding. Something really cheesy would to have an auction for funny things like the centerpeices or dances with the bride and groom.
Q: Wedding decision help
please?
Okay, i’m not getting married til June but i’m starting now i need help. i suck at planning and making decisions…. here’s what i’ve got, is it good?
1.Colors: Coral . Brown . Accents of Bright Green.
2. Cupcakes instead of a wedding cake set on a square cake stand with an 8×8 cutting cake on top.
3.Favors: Flavored popcorn balls in clear cellophane bags with cute monogram tags and coral or brown ribbon.
(flavored popcorn-strawberry. choc. mint. white choc. caramel.)
4. Personalized matchbooks tied to 2 sparklers for guests to lite as we leave.
5. I want to change into a Kelly Green cocktail dress during the “Get-a-way”
6. I want dean martin, frank sinatra and michael buble music.
7. Brown table clothes with coral satin runners
how does that sound?
♥ Natalie
haha ya, i’ll probably change my mind come june
but thanks! sage or a mint color would be nicer huh
oh, i’m using long 8′ tables set up in a large U shape around the room (instead of lots of round tables) and the centerpieces will be 12″ tall x 4″ wide oval glass vases filled with white or ivory river rocks and water, the have tall curly willow branches with little coral flowers tied to the branches with lots of greenery and lots of votive candles.
the ceremony will be outside under some trees next to a pond (were getting married at the golf course my fiancee manages) and the reception will be held in the ballroom of the clubhouse
it’s a very romantic setting i think and the theme of the wedding is “A Summer Fairytale”
A: 1. I’m loving the earthy tones. Coral and Brown are gorgeous, and adding green sounds wonderful!
2. I’ve seen this done before and think it’s so cute! You should have just a little cake (think grocery store size. the little round ones) for cutting though. Well, only if you want =)
3. I think those favors sound SOOO COOL! I’m not so sure on the strawberry, but I’m just not a fan of simulated strawberry so thats just me =)
4. I have NEVER heard of this before, and now I’m wondering why I havent! That’s such a cool idea! Just a question though, will there be younger children there that it might scare? And would this be done indoors or outdoors because of fire warnings.
5. Love it.
6. Sounds amazing. A wedding is usually a classy event, so why not classy music? It would definetly mix things up a bit.
7. I love it. What would you use (if anything) for a center piece?
Add~
Plain and simply,
I am jealous.
It sounds beyond beautiful.
Congratulations to you and your groom!
Q: Fondant vs. Buttercream?
For our wedding we are going for a classic square 4 layer white cake seperated by pink, yellow, and white roses with a lace and pearl design. My question is- if it were you would you go for fondant of buttercream. I’m not always very fond of the fondant unless the cake is very elaborate, although I do like the smooth look of it.
Also, if you have any photos of your own wedding cake or cakes that you like please post them, I’d love to see some alternative ideas. Thank you!
I should probably add that we have already consulted with our cake designer and tasted both. Both ways can be done and fit into our budget, so it’s just a matter of choosing one. If it helps to imagine it, each layer is a different flavor, the bottom is spice, the next two are chocolate with rasberry filling and white with lemon filling, and the top is red velvet. Thanks for all the help!
A: I asked a similar question the other day! The overeall majority of people said buttercream was the way to go but I did find out that there is a type of fondant that tastes like marshmallows. Something to think about anyway… I am going with buttercream. taste is always more important to me!
